Cant show picture

I am trying to show a  picture via Translater Media, but cant get it to work. Playing music via same trigger works.

Filetype is jpg. What am i missing?

thank you Jim, here is the mission, what  i also just discovered, for some reason inputs like pause or acc. time dont work in this mission?!? Any idea why?

Your media setup looks OK. Suggestions:

• Make sure that me.jpg is in the folder specified in the media translator.
• Make sure to click the Set button after browsing for the jpg file.
• Try setting Opacity to 0.
   I tested Opacity in 2018 and it doesn't appear to affect anything.
• Try setting background to 0,0,0 (black).
  I tested background in 2018 and it appears to control whether the background behind the picture is visible (black) or not visible (white)

Re. your other question, I believe that pause and accelerated time do not work while a media translator is playing.

thank you Jim,  tried your suggestions, unfortunatly picture just wont show.

checked directory and clicked set button, tried different folders, opacity and background settings, no difference.

 

But you were right with the media translator, after setting a stop media trigger, inputs worked again (just because mp3 ended, trigger seems still active.

And another succes, you may remeber my problem with 109 wingman not taking off, exept in "from runway" setting,

i read somewere that the latest patch messed 109 AI up somehow. Changed wingman to fw190, and he startet engine and took of with me!

So i got that going for me - which is nice.

The mission file doesnt contain the picture,

In my mission I use a .png file and the path leads to the mission folder.

Maybe you can try that.

How do i get the file into the mission file? Did the same procedure as i did with the mp3 (navigate to Directory/file, press "set"), and that one playes perfectly.

How does the editor handle the addison of mp3, pics, animations if one wants to share the mission? Does it include these files into the mission file itself (as one package), or do you need these files to be in the same root directory they were, when the mission was created?

I used opacity and it does make a difference. I used it when I wanted to have an image displayed in front of the pilot as he is flying. Then I used the opacity value to have the image become semi transparent so that you can see through the image and still fly. It worked in my case until before last update.

Now not only it does not work anymore but the image even does not display at all.

And I did resave the missions and the groups.

I wanted to publish a campaign, and now I have to recheck everything. Maybe I will not do it and wait for the BOBp release and check compatibility with the Golden release.

Manually copied the image into the mission folder.

Means the location where you the save and load your mission from

Almost finished with my first campaign, but still cant manage to show an image. Ialso tried to show simple subtitle message  - no success.

Audio files work like the should, no problem. Tried .jpg, .png , different folders and settings (opacity ect.) - nothing.

Drives me crazy, really need just one image for the opening of the campaing. Maybe someone could provide a sample mission with some generic image at the beginning, just to rule out if its a ME problem or the game itself?

couldnt wait and had to try - no image nor subtitle. Chnged from VR to 2D, deactivated mods, still no success, something with my game i guess, damn.

Did a fresh reinstall of the game, first only your subtitles worked, after "resetting" the picture path in ME, image also was displayed. Very good  - for some reason my old install was the problem, now this issue seems to be solved.

But one other thing, how to make sure pictures  /sounds will be played correctly when you distribute your missions to others? is there a rcommended practise for pathes/folders?

 

P.S. reinstalled my mods and did some testing, turns out the problem was te "show hud" option! If you have this option uncecked, no images will be shown.

i think so, tried jims sample mission just after fresh reinstall and it showed the subs. After reconfiguring the game i tried said sample mission again, subs and picture didnt show. Remebered that i unchecked "show hud" just recently, rechecked it - voila!

Nice catch ironk79! I just tried my sample mission again. Pressing the key for "Show/hide entire HUD" (default H) turned the picture and subtitle on and off. I suspect that all the other things that you did were probably unnecessary.

Yep, but at least the riddle is solved and i can continue my campaign. Didnt lose anything other than 1 hour of reinstalling

agreed...nice find, but am hoping this is a new bug.  Just does not make sense to me that flying without a hud would disable subtitles and media.  Have to wonder what it might also be disabling...

 

Is this happening in SP and MP?

 

now would be great if it would disable those stupid daggers over airfields that are getting attacked..........
