X-56 Flight trim not working

Hi everyone, the trim hat is no longer working on my Saitek X-56 HOTAS.

 

I don't think its the stick though, i can set the hat switch direction in the key binds page and it clearly shows the binds but when i'm in game it doesn't work, everything else seems to work OK, flight axis, throttle, guns, landing gear etc, also I've checked the devices manager for the latest drivers and i have full control of all axis buttons and switches for the the stick and throttle in devices manager.

I've been away from Il2 for the last few months so maybe somethings changed?!

 

Do you guys have any ideas? the only thing i can think of is i downloaded 'Battle of Kuban' two days ago so maybe something went wrong with the download although i did a complete reinstall of the game yesterday and it's still the same.  

 

If someone could maybe help me shed some light on this i'd really appreciate it.
