Do the AI loose track of me just like I loose track of them in a dog fight?

Do the AI loose track of me just like I loose track of them in a dog fight?  Or do they constantly have me padlocked?

I was flying against an ACE with settings that allowed padlocking and I knew where he was most of the time because I was cheating.  But that made me wonder, does the AI cheat all the time?

Once I made him take up smoking it seemed he was brain dead half the time.  I expected more evasive maneuvers after I shot him but for the most part he seemed to have given up.

Would also know if AI is 'allseeing' since it sometimes (most of the times) seems that way.. And also the best sniper pilot in the world! (QMB headons)

Unlike any experience I have had in RoF with AI, I think I bounced an ace AI 109 the other day.

I shook him off of the initial head-to-head flyby at the start of a quick mission, then went tooling around in my Yak, messing around with settings and generally flying a ways away from the 109. Then I came back and bounced him.  Or at least it sure felt that way, and it was very cool.

It has been several months since I've flown against AI in RoF, but I sure hope we can indeed sneak up and surprise the AI in BoS (and perhaps RoF).

I have noticed that sometimes the AI acts like they have forgotten about me / lost sight if I am in their low 5-7 o'clock.   It doesn't seem to matter if I am shooting at them or not.  I imagine them hearing the bang of shells hitting the airframe and trying to remember if the forecaster had predicted cannon showers ahead of the advancing cold front because they completely fail to react to me like I am a threat once they 'forget'.

I think that Dumb foundedness is very realistic. I was once sitting on the shitter in Iraq on guard duty. all of a sudden mortars started coming closter and closer. At first I did nothing cus they seemed just alittle far then hit hit me they were getting very close. I froze! Then I just knew they were going to find me pants down shit spattered all over the place from a blew up porta john and my mortar chewed up ass for all to see. I ran out of the john and dove in to the plywood sand bagged hooch, hit the deck with spec. delay still pulling up my shorts. Holy schnikies a close call!! point is I just froze for just a few second and those few seconds could of been it for me. beware of the hun in the sun cuz it's the one you don't see that gets you. by the way feel very free to laugh at the story above is a ture story but it was very funny AFTERWARD!

Pretty sure it doesn't work anywhere near the same way as with a human pilot, but the BoS AI can definately lose track of you and one another, even when they're in visual range.

At first I regarded it as a bug, because it's so contrary to almost any other flight sim, including RoF, but now I think it's supposed to be that way, and it's awesome.
