Can you please list your system specs, along with describing exactly what happens when you try and launch IL-2 in VR?

Also I assume you know you need Steam VR installed?

My system specs i7000 K 16 GBP memory 2080rtx

I have Steam VR installed but  Sturmovik is not steam. If I still need steam, do I have to activate it.before starting great battles?

Thanks

You only needed Steam to install Steam VR.

Steam VR should launch automatically when you launch IL-2.

Launch IL-2 from the IL-2.exe shortcut.

Do you have "allow third party apps" selected in your Oculus desktop app?

Edit: Sorry I think it is " allow unknown sources".

Hi,

To soon to be happy... it worked 2-3 times when i could start the game.

3rd party unknown sources and VR are selected.

1. I start Oculus

2. Start steam VR

3. Launch the game with its shortcut.

When I start to launch Sturmovik the steam Vr launches also automatically.

On the oculus rift  S mask I see only a scene with hills on sunset, nothing else. The game does not start. Can start DCS, Aerofly but not Great Battles. What am I doing wrong? Please help

Yes Steam VR should start automatically when  you launch IL-2 from the IL-2.exe shortcut with VR enabled in the game settings. You do not need to start it yourself.

Have you tried that?

Sorry, but it does not start automatically. Now I installed open composite to avoid steam. Have only downloaded it. have not made any changes in dll files....Now finally VR works when I run oculus first and then Sturmovik exe shortcut. But now it does not let me play without VR oculus Rift S. Open composite message comes saying: Failed to create lib ovr session.:-1007. Switching back to steam with open composite or not steam does not work and even if there is no image of il-2 on my screen the Mouse pointer disappears on the middle of the screen as if il2 is open but no image of it...Cannot even close il-2 in anyway not even with task manager. Have to shutdown computer with il-2 on the background without seeing it..... Really strange it never happened with any other simulator. Anyway cannot understand that steam must be running for a no steam game! So with composite it works in vr but if I want to play without oculus VR with desktop screen it is not possible. Can someone please help me?

The way I am reading this statement is it is working properly with Open Composite. Then you say it does not let you play without VR ? So if you want to play the game on your monitor and not in VR, then you would need to just go into the game settings and uncheck VR and restart the game. Should not matter how you have Open Composite set to just run on the monitor.

Open Composite program lets you choose, either run with Steam VR or Open Composite. If you are using Open Composite and have it selected as the renderer, then no you do not need Steam or Steam VR running at all. If Open Composite is set up properly it won't.
