=IRFC=SmokinHole Posted October 11, 2019 Posted October 11, 2019 (edited) This may well be due to my lack of recent experience with the Editor. 8 years ago I could make it dance. That was long ago. But even today I would think I should be able to get a train to move. My question is if this a known issue with Arras. Thanks. Mission Begin | 3Sec Timer | Trigger Activate --- (Obj linked to Train ((linked unit))) | 3Sec Timer | 1st MCU WPT --- (obj linked to train) | Target linked next MCU Wpt. Thad Posted October 11, 2019 Posted October 11, 2019 Salutations, Attached is a Russian Train Route Group I put together that you can use and adapt for use. RusTrainRout.zip
=IRFC=SmokinHole Posted October 11, 2019 Author Posted October 11, 2019 Your group didn't work for me either, unfortunately. The only bit you had that I didn't was the Formation (move) MCU. If that is necessary then it is a new requirement since my old days. Regardless, I appreciate your help!

Here's the mission from the manual adapted for Arras. You do not need a formation command. I've forgotten how to get the camera views to appear in order, so you have to jump around to get the current view of the train. JimTMTestArrasTrain.zip Edited October 11, 2019 by JimTM
JGr2/J34b_Matthias Posted October 11, 2019 Posted October 11, 2019 (edited) No activation trigger required. Make sure you hook each waypoint with an object link back to the train Mission Start -> 3sec timer -> Waypoint 1 (object link to train) -> waypoint 2 (object link to train) -> etc. . Edited October 12, 2019 by J5_Matthias Clarified Activation TRIGGER
=IRFC=SmokinHole Posted October 12, 2019 Author Posted October 12, 2019 Thanks. Based on the input here I think I’ve been doing it right. I will template the mission to different map and see if it works there. Old memories from Rise of Flight are flooding back
J99_Sizzlorr Posted October 12, 2019 Posted October 12, 2019 I've seen trains do all sorts of stupid things. The first waypoint of the train route has to be placed with enough space between the train and the waypoint. Otherwise the train spawns orientated in the wrong direction, keeps on driving in the wrong direction and then derails. I also couldn't get the train to move along the track from Douai to the frontline. It just stopped midway.
Zooropa_Fly Posted October 12, 2019 Posted October 12, 2019 Did a couple of things that got the bugger moving.. 1. Can't remember. 2. Set waypoints to 'high' priority. S!

I just tried that with no problem. Train started from east of Douai where the line runs north/south, went all the way to the first shell holes. One waypoint, triggered directly by Mission Begin MCU.
=IRFC=SmokinHole Posted October 15, 2019 Author Posted October 15, 2019 Thanks all. My mistake was that my Trigger Activate MCU was, in addition to being object-linked to the train (which is fine), was also target-linked to a timer that was linked to the 1st waypoint. I got rid of the target-link and the train did fine. I will change the title to the thread.
