Goffik Posted October 10, 2019 Posted October 10, 2019 I'm wondering if there is a way to physically move your viewpoint in VR? I mean like you can in most racing sims, using the keyboard to move your viewpoint up/down/forwards/back/left/right. I've tried the 'Move pilot head' controls but they did nothing, so I suppose they must be for non-VR only. The only way I've found so far is to physically move my own head in the opposite direction to the one I want while hitting the VR reset view button, until I end up in roughly the position I want when sitting normally. This is a highly inaccurate way of doing things, and getting the position just right without accidentally rotating your view slightly left/right is nearly impossible. Surely there must be a proper way of achieving this?
peregrine7 Posted October 10, 2019 Posted October 10, 2019 Set it by using "F10" (set default view). It doesn't work quite like what you want but it saves the view for when you next jump in the plane. Move your head into the right position, hit F10, sit comfortably, hit 'reset vr view'. 1
dburne Posted October 10, 2019 Posted October 10, 2019 You can also set the view on your monitor, I personally find this easier than trying to do with headset on. Once set, it is done and is specific for that airplane. Uncheck VR and start the game in 2d Mode. Adjusting the default head position: 1. Ensure any head tracking software (such as TrackIR) is disabled. 2. Make sure you cockpit view is centered by pressing the numpad 5 key (Pilot head: snap position center). 3. Adjust your camera view to the left and to the right with the Delete (Move pilot head left) and the End keys (Move pilot head right), respectively. 4. Adjust your camera view forward and backward with the Insert (Move pilot head forward) and the Home keys (Move pilot head backward), respectively. 5. Adjust your camera view up and down with the Page Up (Move pilot head up) and the Page Down keys (Move pilot head down), respectively. 6. Once you are satisfied with your changes, press the F10 key (Save current corrections in head snap position). If at any time before this step you want to revert to the default head position, press the numpad 5 key. 1

Yeah, I forgot to mention that step (F10) but that's what I'm doing. It works, but getting it just right without the slight left/right rotation is very time consuming. It's hard to look forwards, move the opposite way to the way you want, while also checking down to make sure you're not at all rotated! (I use the seat edge to check.) :p 9 hours ago, dburne said: You can also set the view on your monitor, I personally find this easier than trying to do with headset on. A tad convoluted and the game could certainly use a proper method of doing this, but that workaround will get the job done. Thank you! Edited October 11, 2019 by Goffik
