Multiplayer stats, goals or unlocks?

Love the game so far, but... I cannot find any stats of my online plays. I mean, where can i see my rank,  K/D ratio , longest shot, how many crashes etc?
I mean playing online is not always about the kills or skills, but some plane unlocks, player rank or just stats would be nice. What is the point if there is nothing to play for? Not even statistics...

Just type your server name and "stats" into google. Then you will likely get to the stats page for that server.

So, if you fly on Combat Box, you can access your stats for particular 'tours' under Player Rankings. www.combatbox.net.
And on Knights of the Air, its the same thing: kotastat.com. KOTA also has medals you get for getting a certain amount of kills/groundkills during any given 'tour'.
Etc.

If you fly on a competitive server like Tactical Air War when it is running, you'll find what you're looking for - its a persistent dynamic war where your stats influence plane availability and there are rewards given out to top players and squads at the end of the game. As you gain 'experience', you rank up. Successful combat missions earn you more and better aircraft. You have a limited number of lives on any given map and deaths reset your stats so its worthwhile to try not to die. TAW isn't always running, but when it comes back online you should give it a go.

I track my stats just to have an idea of how I'm doing or if I'm improving, but it doesn't really do anything concrete for me because...

...This. Some of my most fun sorties resulted in no kills for me and an untimely demise, but the fights were fantastic and challenging. Just be in the moment, man! Sims are about immersion.

Point taken. Dont get me wrong.. I am not a stat junky or show off, i mean if there were any stats they would me dramatic! Thats not the point. Just new to the fact that there are no goals or achievements.. Like earning a new plane or some mods for the hard work. No sport just having it all from start. But maybe i am the only one missing this feature. For now, controlling the plane will me be my main objective.

At one point in the game very early on, there were 'unlocks' where you have to unlock the newer planes by beating certain missions. They were almost universally unpopular. You may not be the only one missing that feature but you would admittedly be in the minority here.

I know a lot of games nowadays have an unlocking grind that gets you better stuff and allows you to progress to different areas, but Il-2 doesn't work like that. Il-2 is more scenario based in online play - the planes available are usually contemporaries of each other and there's no way to earn better ones, you have what you have. Except for in the dynamic campaign servers like Finnish Virtual Pilots and TAW there is little in the way of persistence between scenarios.

On the other hand, however, that means that there really isn't anyway for any other player to get insane high-tier vehicles or gear and be invincible. There is no leveling up that improves stats or equipment so everything goes back to the planes that are available to everybody, and personal skill. And then, of course, there's luck. Its a great equalizer online that a total rookie can come along and vaporize a well-known ace if the conditions are right.

My advice to you would be to record your sorties and track your stats and watch yourself improve over time. Maybe you won't get any sweet gear but you'll be able to see yourself growing in skill and building your 'career'. It can be very satisfying. And of course, definitely check out TAW, it seems like it would be your speed for sure.

You probably aren't aware of the history of this, but there was a great deal of discontent back when Battle of Stalingrad first came out, due to 'mods' having to be earned. It really doesn't make sense when people are playing the game in many different ways - single player (the majority)  and multiplayer, as a do-what-you-like sandbox, or as strict role-play careers. Paying for something, and then not being able to use it because of arbitrary  requirements set for other playing styles is a sure-fire way to lose customers.

Edit: RedKestrel beat me to it. What he said...
