Hackels Posted October 7, 2019 Posted October 7, 2019 I'm having trouble getting the mustang started ... probably the Idle cut off. Don't know how to turn it on and off. Please help
TheSNAFU Posted October 7, 2019 Posted October 7, 2019 Set throttle about an inch forward, prop pitch to full ( all the way forward), press E to start the engine. As it begins to catch move mixture lever to run. Should fire right up. To shut it down press E.
Sokol1 Posted October 7, 2019 Posted October 7, 2019 (edited) BTW - This throttle 1" open is really need or just "what if"? No other plane require this, only mixture and RPM in correct positions. Edited October 7, 2019 by Sokol1 1 1

Hoss Posted October 14, 2019 Posted October 14, 2019 He's prolly confused it with the Allison's they originally had.............
=IRFC=TALLY Posted October 20, 2019 Posted October 20, 2019 Roger that "Allison v. Packard" - tired and drinking lighter fluid... The engine sounds so bad compared to the spitfire's engine.... AND I was irritated trying to get trackir to show up with P3D. Just wanted a good P51 in this SIM... instead of having to fly DCS to wring out the frustration....... 3
JGr2/J46_Sturm Posted May 2, 2020 Posted May 2, 2020 Hey all, Hope someone can help so here it goes. This is in relation the P51 or the P47 but could be a issue with all the planes as I have never started in the parked position with any plane in BOS or Bodenplate. When I am sitting in the parked plane, I set mixture to 100% press E to start. The engine fires up and I back mixture down to about 95 or 80% and release the parking brakes and increase throttle and the plane starts moving but then slows to a stop and at this point it does not matter what I do I cant get enough power to move. If I decrease throttle all the way wait until engine goes to idle and the increase to full the plane will move again but the it stops in about 30 to 50 feet. If I start on a runway with engine already running everything is fine. This only happens in the parked and engine off position. What am I doing wrong?
DD_Arthur Posted May 2, 2020 Posted May 2, 2020 1 minute ago, J5_Sturm said: What am I doing wrong? Prop. pitch by the sound of it. Have the lever three-quarters forward and then give it some throttle.
JGr2/J46_Sturm Posted May 2, 2020 Posted May 2, 2020 Thanks, I will try that. I have been watching the video as well. LOL WWI planes are much easier.

No other plane require this, only mixture and RPM in correct positions. It's not needed to push 1cm of throttle to start engines. Except may be the Bf110. But, on idle position, rpm are mostly around 500-600rpm, which is very low. Generally, except if the engine is very cold, after start up, engines are running around 1000/1200 rpm. That's why I always have a cm of throttle for start up: it's useless but it gives a better sound and add more immersion. Spoiler Edited May 2, 2020 by JG300_Faucon
-332FG-Hank_DG Posted May 5, 2020 Posted May 5, 2020 You don't even need to touch the prop or throttle. Just put your mixture forward and start it up.
