=362nd_FS=RoflSeal Posted October 6, 2019 Posted October 6, 2019 (edited) HVARs were first used in combat by P-47Ds of the 513th FS, 406 FG, 9AF in July 1944 in Normandy. By September this squadron had performed 323 rocket attack sorties with over 1,000 HVAR rockets expended. With these field-upgraded aircraft, 4 HVARs were fitted, in total, inboard of the bomb/droptank wing pylons. The later P-47D-30/D-40 could fit 10 HVARs. A weapon system used far more in the war and in this theatre vs Tempest with bombs, Spitfire with rockets to name a few so I think it deserves to be in the game.“We want CalTech rockets ( referring to the HVAR) , repeat, we want CalTech rockets, not Army Ordnance.(referring to the M8)” -Major General E. R. Quesada, Commander of the Ninth Air Force Pics below Edited October 6, 2019 by =362nd_FS=RoflSeal 8
Bremspropeller Posted October 12, 2019 Posted October 12, 2019 +1 for HVARs They're much better than the bazookas we're having now.
Legioneod Posted October 12, 2019 Posted October 12, 2019 I wouldn't mind HVARs but I'd probably still take the bazookas due to having two more rockets. While HVARs were used in ETO they weren't nearly as common as Bazookas. HVARs were used alot more in the Pacific iirc.
