airacobrafan Posted October 3, 2019 Posted October 3, 2019 When looking at the plane customization, the M2.50 only has blue (AP respectively solid) rounds available, while the other .50 cal machine guns (UBS, MG131 and Breda) are loaded with blue and orange (HE or similar) bullets. I know that the M2.50 usually fired Armor-Piercing-Incendiary (API) rounds, which were also modeled in IL-2 1946 as you can see a flash and sparks when the bullets hit their target, but they seen to be absent in Il-2 Great Battles. These rounds would be an important addition to the Bodenplatte module, as most Allied planes in this expansion have the M2.50 as their primary armament. They would also benefit the P-39 and P-40 already in the game.
Jmo Posted October 3, 2019 Posted October 3, 2019 Just because they show as blue doesn't mean they aren't already modeled as API. The .50s already perform as if they are API as they set planes on fire very easily if you get a good burst in.
CIA_Yankee_ Posted October 3, 2019 Posted October 3, 2019 Yeah, I'm pretty sure API rounds are moddled. There's a kind of explosive "puff" with every hit, after all.
310th_Diablo Posted November 12, 2019 Posted November 12, 2019 Ive pushed for api and apit loadouts since us plans were introduced. If they are indeed modeled I would love to know that.
Krisu Posted November 12, 2019 Posted November 12, 2019 For the love of god why are there no beautiful series of flashes when my .50s connect, why is it some lame puffs xD
