jarg1 Posted October 2, 2019 Posted October 2, 2019 Are you plugged into a DisplayPort 1.3 and a USB 3.0 port?
Marvel Posted October 2, 2019 Author Posted October 2, 2019 Hi Jarg1, I tried both, first the dp and then the usb 3.0. I have not switched on the handles, I using the headset only... I have dp 1.4 and HDMI 2.0b https://www.nvidia.com/it-it/geforce/graphics-cards/rtx-2080/
jarg1 Posted October 2, 2019 Posted October 2, 2019 Make sure the connector near the headset is seated well. And take a look at this: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06308089

chiliwili69 Posted October 3, 2019 Posted October 3, 2019 Remember that in order to play IL-2 you have to install first an application of Steam called "WMR for SteamVR". To do that you need an account in Steam. When you want to play IL-2, you need to launch first "WMR for SteamVR" before launching IL-2 (IL-2 launch SteamVR automatically). 1
Marvel Posted October 3, 2019 Author Posted October 3, 2019 Hi Chiliwili69, I have not a Steam IL-2GB, I bought the three modules directly on the IL-2 store. In this case also I need to have Steam WMR to play IL-2GB? Ciao! Marco
-332FG-Gordon200 Posted October 3, 2019 Posted October 3, 2019 10 minutes ago, Marvel said: I need to have Steam WMR to play IL-2GB? Yes. Here is the link to download WMR for SteamVR - https://store.steampowered.com/app/719950/Windows_Mixed_Reality_for_SteamVR/ In SteamVR settings>applications click the box to have SteamVR start when you launch a VR game. In the Audio section select the sound to switch to your HMD speakers when in VR. Do the same for your microphone. In Video check the box to allow super sampling and move the slider up to 188% and close the app. When you ready to play IL2 first start Windows Mixed Reality and move the HMD up - down - left - right for it to get it's bearings. The lenses will light up. Now minimize WMR and hold the HMD up at eye level and launch IL2 from your desktop. As the game begins to load put the HMD on and you should be taken to the hanger ready to go. When you exit IL2 remove the HMD and close WMR app. SteamVR will then shut down.
Marvel Posted October 3, 2019 Author Posted October 3, 2019 Hi Gordon, ok, this afternoon I will download and try WMR for Steam VR. Many thanks guys! Ciao! Marco
Marvel Posted October 4, 2019 Author Posted October 4, 2019 (edited) Hi guys, well, I installed WMR for steam and I done the setting suggested by Gordon200 and done the first flights. Very impressive! This being my first experience with virtual reality these are the impressions I had: Colors: less bright than monitor; they seem a little faded. Is possible to obtain more bright colors? Position in the cockpit: I seem to be sitting taller than normal. The impression is to have the head in contact with the canopy. Maybe I wrong the initial setting of headset? Gunsight: the brightness is rather weak and I find it difficult to follow the target. FPS: it is the green number in the high right corner, right? With monitor I had 50 or 60 fps, with VR I have 75-90 fps, is ok or is wrong? When I flight close terrain graphics go jerky. I read this thread and in the next days I will try to set as suggested: https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/28660-vr-tips-and-tricks-improving-your-vr-experience-updated-5thjun18/ If you (surely) have suggestion, please, let me know how I can improve this amazing experience with VR. Many thanks! Ciao! Marco Edited October 4, 2019 by Marvel
dburne Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 You can change the default cockpit position for each plane as follows. I myself uncheck VR and launch IL-2 on the monitor to do this. Once you get it where you like it, it will stay that way. Adjusting the default head position: 1. Ensure any head tracking software (such as TrackIR) is disabled. 2. Make sure you cockpit view is centered by pressing the numpad 5 key (Pilot head: snap position center). 3. Adjust your camera view to the left and to the right with the Delete (Move pilot head left) and the End keys (Move pilot head right), respectively. 4. Adjust your camera view forward and backward with the Insert (Move pilot head forward) and the Home keys (Move pilot head backward), respectively. 5. Adjust your camera view up and down with the Page Up (Move pilot head up) and the Page Down keys (Move pilot head down), respectively. 6. Once you are satisfied with your changes, press the F10 key (Save current corrections in head snap position). If at any time before this step you want to revert to the default head position, press the numpad 5 key.
RedeyeStorm Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 The F10 key can also be pressed in VR. Just move your body/head in the desired position and press F10. If necessary repeat pressing F10 untill okay. Welcome to the wonderfull world off VR flying! 1
Marvel Posted October 7, 2019 Author Posted October 7, 2019 Hi guys, many thanks for your suggestions! ? This afternoon I will try to set haedset in the desired position. Ciao! Marco
Marvel Posted October 9, 2019 Author Posted October 9, 2019 Hi guys, I managed to set my desired cockpit position as suggested by Dburne; do this directly in VR I found it more difficult. Now, in the 109F-4 I have the desired position. I setted graphics options also as suggested by Peregrine7 (https://forum.il2sturmovik.com/topic/28660-vr-tips-and-tricks-improving-your-vr-experience-updated-5thjun18/) for "look good and still get good performance", but non completely. I didn't understand where to find "manual override" and " game resolution" in Steam VR. Could someone give me a screeshot, please? Yesterday I tried some flights with clouds or without clouds and fps changed accordingly. With sky clear/no clouds I has 90 fps steady, while with clouds fps drops 40-50 and sometime graphics go jerky. How could I solve, please? Many thanks for all you help! Ciao! Marco
