Quick Taxi question regarding P-38

P-38 is a breeze to taxi, but whenever I first get moving, the plane wants to begin movement like it's going in an uncontrollable spin. I'll slowly push the manifold up and once there is a hint of movement go back on the throttle a tad, but it always starts of veering strongly in one direction. Yes, it's easily correctable by applying opposite toe brake, but it seems like like weird behavior to me. Also seems to be no rhyme or reason to the direction- it will start left and right at times. Is there something I am doing wrong?

Crank your prop pitch up! ?

Are you giving both turbochargers time to rev up?

I keep it on the constant speed and put her all the way up, should I change the mode to fixed pitch when taxiing?

That may be it. I'll check it in a bit and report back.

Are you revving up both engines, at the same RPM settings, at the same time? Sounds like there's differential thrust going on.

I've found this issue to be dependent on which direction the nose wheel is initially pointing (in QM use the F2 view prior to taxi). You are using the same corrective action that I do.

True. The front wheel is free swiveling, and the initial start up of the engines just might pull enough at the airframe to turn the wheel sideways.

After testing more, it's the nose wheel for sure. Wish there was a way to lock it forward at the start. It's one of the easiest to taxi but that spin you want to do when you get rolling is a tad... inconvenient. ?

Just remember to open the throttle very slowly when you first start rolling and make sure to go straight for a couple meters when lining up on the runway, and you should be fine.
