Heckpupper Posted October 2, 2019 Posted October 2, 2019 ...seven roads leading out. Now, let's take a looksie here? A town know for it's strategically important roads ends with a literal dead end? Doesn't seem quite right ? 1
HagarTheHorrible Posted October 2, 2019 Posted October 2, 2019 I think we just have to accept that this is a representative map rather than an actual map. That said, it is odd that the last significant throw of the dice in the West by the Germans and part of their overall Ardennes Offensive, slap bang in the middle of the Bobp time frame, wasn't given more consideration. It might well be to do with the Russia orientated development team not being as ohfay with the Western campaign, much as many of us in the West are generally ignorant of many of the events in the East. 2
Sharpe43 Posted October 2, 2019 Posted October 2, 2019 It's stuff like that, that pains me. My home city is on the map as well, but there are no bridges tieing the two city halves together, to name something along the same lines.
InProgress Posted October 2, 2019 Posted October 2, 2019 (edited) Spoiler Is there no foy? Too iconic not to have it, or you have to zoom in so it shows up? Edited October 2, 2019 by InProgress
danielprates Posted October 2, 2019 Posted October 2, 2019 (edited) In general I think people are overeacting with this want for extreme detail in what already is a colossal map. But here I feel I must agree; if one city has to be depicted with above-average detail, that's Bastogne. Specially so if "watch am rhein" and Patton's counterattack are made a part of the campaign. Heckpupper Posted October 2, 2019 Author Posted October 2, 2019 Yeah I'm not even complaining right now, pre-release Kuban map was also pretty lackluster and it got much better once officially released. I'd imagine the process will be similar with Rheinland, and even though I'm not too nitpicky when it comes to maps, I'd love to see Bastogne/Foy/Hurtgenwald and some other things done right.
HagarTheHorrible Posted October 2, 2019 Posted October 2, 2019 Maybe they're planning a big surprize (for sometime mid - late December ?) and are working on giving extra detail to the Bastogne area for a Bobp/TC mash up, a mini module downloadable content.

High expecations and local knowledge vs playabillity of the map...though choice at times..

Yes, for sure, and elsewhere in this forum I have been saying that people are expecting too much from this map, more than it's possible considering the game objectives. However, if one town deserves more care than most others, that's Bastogne, no question about it. I don't remember this from the time of the Kuban map release, but people are saying that map too got a lot of tweaks after release. I imagine the Rheinland map will too. Bastogne should be very high in the top of the list!
Cybermat47 Posted October 2, 2019 Posted October 2, 2019 Still early days for the map. After the detail that was put into Stalingrad and the Moscow outskirts, I think it’s reasonable to think that Bastogne and Foy will get the treatment they deserve. Funnily enough, I’m watching the Bastogne episodes of Band of Brothers right now, and I’ve just had a load of matches on the Hell Let Loose Foy map.
