Badders46 Posted October 1, 2019 Posted October 1, 2019 Hi all, I am absolutely loving the update and BoBP! I'm still rubbish but I enjoy it so that's the main thing! I have a question regarding Steam VR... I used to use it a lot and was able to turn off asynchronous reprojection by opening the Mirror View and pressing shift+A... That was playing a game through Steam. I only have BoBP so it isn't through Steam but SteamVR is automatically used for VR... I don't seem to be able to turn Asynchronous off though? Any ideas? The latest update has killed by frames and I am at 45 pretty much all the time whereas before I was around 80-90... Thanks! Big about out to the Devs too! Keep up the grand work!
[DBS]Browning Posted October 1, 2019 Posted October 1, 2019 Try Ctr+Num 0...or is is Ctr+Num 1. One of those two.
Badders46 Posted October 1, 2019 Author Posted October 1, 2019 Is that when in IL2 or in the VR view in Steam? Thanks!
dburne Posted October 1, 2019 Posted October 1, 2019 Do yourself a favor and get rid of Steam VR for IL-2 and Rift. Open Composite much leaner and provides better performance. https://www.reddit.com/r/oculus/comments/9nxixe/systemwide_installation_for_opencomposite_released/ 1 2

I'm prepared for disapointment but hoping for a miracle and will be more then happy for a smal improvment

enyak Posted October 2, 2019 Posted October 2, 2019 I have had a very positive experience using Open Composite (OVR) with IL-2 the last month. Works quite well.
Badders46 Posted October 2, 2019 Author Posted October 2, 2019 Right, I installed Open Composite before heading off to work and it seemed to work so that's all good... Can anyone share their settings for VR? My PC is: Windows 10 64bit I7700 4.2ghz GTX1080Ti 16gb RAM Just want to make sure I'm running the best I can... I love this sim - used to play IL2 Cliffs of Dover with Team Fusion and have played a lot of DCS and I'll be honest, I bought BoBP to fly the P-47... I have ended up loving all of the aeroplanes I have available and have also bought the P-40 and Spit V to enable me to play on other servers too... It is brilliant in VR! I am rubbish though and have only 1 kill to my name! Thanks in advance, Dan 1

Are all ower the place dempending on the patch. Before I had 24 on the ground and 40-60 in flight whith ingame settings tuned for vr after tips on this forum The fps was bad but it felt ok for some reason. But in the spring a patch totaly destroyd my fps and the game was unplayabel for some time. At end of summer patch made then performance better again. I ended up using oculus tool to lock the fps to 45. And at the moment that gives me a pretty solid experience. But far from optimale, and I think on paper I should have gotten better performance. Posibel that my cpu are the bottelneck, unsurten....

Lensman1945 Posted October 2, 2019 Posted October 2, 2019 Using Open Composite for some time here too. However, since yesterday's big update my FPS has taken a bit of a dive Quick mission 4 on 4 dogfight before update 70-80 fps consistent. After update 50-60 fps. Hopefully this will be ironed out in the final release.
Badders46 Posted October 2, 2019 Author Posted October 2, 2019 I have no sound since moving to OC... Change back to Steam VR and I have sound... How do I uninstall so I can try again? So it seems, if I use my headphone (not rift) I can't hear... If I use rift I can... Can I use my headphones with OC?

I should think so, just change the sound output in Windows 10 to your headphone if you don't want it through Rift. Speaker icon in lower right of your taskbar.
Badders46 Posted October 2, 2019 Author Posted October 2, 2019 This is what it was set to but no sound... Changed to Steam VR and had sound. Put speakers on rift and selected this when running OC and had sound... Strange! Will do some more testing tomorrow... Just want to fly now ??
=SFG=capt_nasties Posted October 2, 2019 Posted October 2, 2019 FWIW i also noticed much lower frame rates with the same graphic settings after the new patch. i9900K @4800, 4433 mHz ram, 2080 are my specs. going to try this open composite option....
Fern Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 (edited) I downloaded OpenComposite, but I can't figure out how to launch the game. I run the Opencomposite.exe and switch to opencomposite, but have no idea what to do from there. Oh, I'm using a Rift S and I also downloaded the OTT. Edited October 5, 2019 by Fern

I just launch IL2 from a desktop shortcut before putting on my Rift, that works for me.
Fern Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 I had to go into steam library and launch it from there. Now I need to solve this double vision blurry mess. I'm about to go back to trackir.
