HagarTheHorrible Posted October 1, 2019 Posted October 1, 2019 I went hill walking, yesterday, around Torridon, in the NW Scottish Highlands. Coming off the hill i passed the site of a crashed lancaster, with various bits of wreckage strewen about the area, It's definetely not the place to get lost in or indeed try to park a Lancaster. On the other hand, there are a couple of spare Merlins, going cheap. It's increadable how well the rubber tyres, from the undercarriage, have weathered the elements after 69 years. I was going to put in my own pictures, but to be honest, the links below do a far better job . Lancaster crash, Beinne Eighe Recovery effort The crew came from the same Sqn as my father, 120, serving at Kinloss in the North of Scotland, they are also buried close to his grave at Kinloss Abbey, I'll pay them a visit the next time I'm there visiting my fathers grave. 1
