DD_Arthur Posted February 2, 2023 Posted February 2, 2023 Approach and arrival into RNAS Yeovilton yesterday - late afternoon. Real time with live weather. ? 5
Bremspropeller Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 (edited) Hopefully they'll throw some realism onto that DHC-4 right out of the box. Flying the DC-3 with the CHT-gauge beyond the red and not being able to change it kinda grinds my gears. The Mriya would be an awesome aircraft to multicrew. Come on, Asobo! Tbh, I'd personally prefer a C-5A or B (the TF39 sound is awfully awesome), though. Edited February 3, 2023 by Bremspropeller
1CGS LukeFF Posted February 3, 2023 1CGS Posted February 3, 2023 (edited) The current development roadmap - besides the An-225 and DHC-4, the An-2 and ATR 42 are also planned: 7 hours ago, Bremspropeller said: Hopefully they'll throw some realism onto that DHC-4 right out of the box. From what has been written by Asobo and Aeroplane Heaven, it seems the DC-3 is scheduled for a big bug fix with the next Sim Update in March. Edited February 3, 2023 by LukeFF 1 2

1CGS LukeFF Posted February 4, 2023 1CGS Posted February 4, 2023 (edited) Next leg in the round the world tour: Grand Marais/Cook County Seaplane Base, Minnesota (KCKC) to Kapuskasing, Ontario, Canada (CYYU) We've crossed the border! ? The day started out very cold and with low visibility just before 0800 at KCKC. But, now that I know how to start the Bonanza properly in extreme cold, getting started wasn't as much of an issue this time. Before long, we were out and on our way to the northeast, through heavy cloud cover: As before, the cloud cover en route afforded us beautiful screenshots. The 20-knot tailwind was also much appreciated. The clouds thinned out a bit about halfway to CYYU, but it became overcast again as we approached our destination. No matter, we our landing into CYYU and Canada without any problems. Edited February 4, 2023 by LukeFF 2
ZachariasX Posted February 4, 2023 Posted February 4, 2023 MSFS is really giving me a hard time. After a reainstall (and newly downloading all content) to get past the "Checking for Updates" screen, now it is not laoding real time weather anymore. Oh well.

I had that before, but now it doesn't want to load it at all, no matter how much I set and reset the toggles in "DATA". It's woth noting that it happened after I switched to dev mode to check memory usage with progressive (store) addon installments. Delicate this piece of software is...
DD_Arthur Posted February 4, 2023 Posted February 4, 2023 Judging by posts on the official forums it seems they’re having a problem with their servers and live weather at the moment. 1

Yes, on my last leg in the round the world trip I was stuck with sunny skies and green vegetation at my starting point for several minutes before it finally switched over to the real time weather of overcast skies and snow.
1CGS LukeFF Posted February 5, 2023 1CGS Posted February 5, 2023 (edited) Our journey across the Great White North continues, this time Kapuskasing, Ontario (CYYU) to Chibougamau/Chapais, Quebec (CYMT). Our day started with yet another lousy day of overcast skies and snow at CYYU. Because of the low clouds, we flew at 3500 feet this mission. It cleared up slightly en route before the storm clouds rolled in again. Once again, we were helped along by a strong tailwind, this time on average 28 knots: Coming in to land at CYMT, the weather got really ugly, and the final 30 seconds or so on final approach was a really bumpy ride. But we made it down safely without any issues: This was my second flight using Navigraph, which I've found to be very helpful. I got away with just using SkyVector along with Littlenavmp while still transiting the US, but I needed something more once I crossed into Canada, since Skyvector doesn't have a lot of airport charts for countries outside the US. Plus, it's far more convenient just pulling up a window inside the game instead of having to constantly Alt-Tab in and out to check something. Edited February 5, 2023 by LukeFF 1 2
1CGS LukeFF Posted February 5, 2023 1CGS Posted February 5, 2023 On we go, farther and farther north, this time from Chibougamau/Chapais, Quebec (CYMT) to Schefferville, Quebec (CYKL). Another morning, another day of cold, lousy weather: For a while the cloud cover was very heavy en route, but it finally cleared up and we had mostly clear skies on our way into CYKL: It was a bumpy ride again on final approach with a nasty crosswind, but we made it in and down to the parking area, which curiously is slightly downhill from the runway here: 1
Lusekofte Posted February 5, 2023 Posted February 5, 2023 Got the game updated and loaded and working. I am always afraid when a update is coming

JimTM Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 (edited) I took off out of Toronto Pearson (CYYZ) in the TBM 930, set the weather to Storm and had a go at weaving through the nasty weather using the radar. What fun! I ended up landing in Collingwood (CNY3) north of Toronto about 3 minutes before the deluge hit. Edited February 7, 2023 by JimTM 1
ZachariasX Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 Funny, sometimes now it just loads some haze when selecting real weather, but it just loads it only once and you fly out of that zone into clear skies: Oh well. At least I have REX Weather Force 2020 as well to make up for it for the time being. But man, sometimes I wonder what they are actually doing professionally at MS...
AndyJWest Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 What a silly-looking aeroplane. I want one... 1

Lusekofte Posted February 8, 2023 Posted February 8, 2023 Look at it, it got all you need not a tad more. Besides that it is a very very good STOL plane. Built by a very good factory
ZachariasX Posted February 8, 2023 Posted February 8, 2023 Short sitrep about my MSFS troubles. Seems it's been solved now, following issues were encountered and solved, just in case you run into the same at some point: The missing live weather was indeed a f*ck*p on the MS side of things, after some days of just clear skies, it eventually loaded athmosphere but not clouds and only once; then later suddenly it worked again with no known/apparent changes from my side. Game freeze upon clicking "FLY" from the map screen. Some suggested problems with input devices. In my case, it seems to be an issue with the rolling cache. If I change that, I can currently at best only do one flight after making changes on teh cache, most often it will freeze right away after clicking "FLY" instead of freezing in the second flight. What cured the situation was resetting the game and let rolling cache as set by default in your win profile folder with a size of 8 GB. Leaving it like that and the game works. Just in case you be entertained in a similar way.

I needed a year off (almost) after encountering several loading issues and update problems. And a week it took to get past looking for update loading. I will probably clean up my community folder just to be able to get a faster loading. I really felt your pain when reading it. It is a wonderful sim but man, how frustrating it can be 1

1CGS LukeFF Posted February 11, 2023 1CGS Posted February 11, 2023 On we go, farther and farther north, from Schefferville, Quebec (CYKL) to Iqaluit, Nunavut (CYFB). The weather dawned cold but clear at CYKL, a welcome relief from the dreadful weather of the past few days. Once I could encourage the engine to start, we were on our way before long: En route the cloud coverage grew a bit, but the more pressing issue was the strong headwind, which caused us to burn through quite a bit more fuel than usual: We eventually reached the Hudson Strait, with its cold, deep-blue waters. Not the place you want to have an engine problem. ? Once over the straits the terrain rose a bit in altitude but was still as bleak as ever. But, once we made the turn on final to CYFB it was an easy, straightforward approach to the runway. CYFB is one of the more detailed airports in Canada, having been updated in one of the recent World Updates. There were also some bigger planes parked here today (I use the FSLTL traffic addon): This is as far north as we will go into Canada. Next stop: Greenland. 2 2
1CGS LukeFF Posted February 12, 2023 1CGS Posted February 12, 2023 Next leg in the round the world tour: Iqaluit, Nunavut (CYFB) to Nuuk (BGGH). Aka, Greenland! The day dawned bright and clear on the ramp at CYFB, and we had some new visitors today: Before long we were on our way east out towards the Labrador Sea and Greenland: En route to the coast we had a strong tailwind, and the terrain in this area rose up a bit in altitude: As we crossed out over the coast we also passed over some outlying islands: Once out over the open sea the tailwind became a headwind with some moderate turbulence, but we were able to make it to the Greenland coast without issues. Once there, the terrain rose up to the east of the airfield: There was no active weather report for Nuuk as we came into land, so we had to rely on the best info we had. We ended up landing with some tailwind, but otherwise we were able to make it down safely: 2 1
