It remember all your abuse to it. If you move throttles too fast too often . Next time it will not start on one or two engines. Even if you uninstall/ install it. It is just my plane. You got this iPad in the pit. You need to repair and maintain those radials Cool, I love the engine management details. I've almost completed flying the F6F around the world. Definitely had to mind the RPM's, oil and cylinder head temps, but I managed. I'm really considering the DC-6.... Enjoy the DC-3 (when you can), the Duckworks Mod just really brings it to life (and they're really focused on trying to get it as RTL as possible). 1
Lusekofte Posted January 1, 2023 Posted January 1, 2023 You won’t regret getting the DC 6. But do your other things first. Once you get it you stuck 1

CUJO_1970 Posted January 2, 2023 Posted January 2, 2023 Oh you got it^^^ Damn I've been thinking about getting that thing too.

Drum Posted January 2, 2023 Posted January 2, 2023 I like the fact that it's also closest to what I could afford, which makes it more immersive. <g> 1

It would be a rented Cessna from a local club. I also sat in co pilot seat several times controlling it. With my Fulcrum yoke it pretty much simulate the Cessna well. Easy to fly, for me at least not that easy to keep altitude straight. I struggle both in game and real with that. I guess light ac goes a bit up and down in turbulence. This ac is pretty fast too for being a Cessna. Retractable gear 1
1CGS LukeFF Posted January 2, 2023 1CGS Posted January 2, 2023 Flying from Tonopah to Mammoth for a weekend of skiing. Pretty bumpy getting up over the mountains, and I wasn't fast enough on the descent, so I had to perform a go-around, but we eventually made it. 3

kestrel79 Posted January 2, 2023 Posted January 2, 2023 Are any of the pay ware training missions worth money? Or is it best to just go on YouTube and watch airplane tutorials? Or do most pay ware aircraft come with built in training missions? I tend to just stick to stock airplanes...I tend to stay away from mods. But if there are mods to the stock aircraft that enhance them, that sounds worthwhile especially since if they are free. Is it easy to paint aircraft in MS2020? I'd love to paint a small jet in our band's colors and pretend it's our personal jet and "fly" from gig to gig
Lusekofte Posted January 2, 2023 Posted January 2, 2023 For me it is worth it. I fly straighter with an instructor and get the right tips when I need it. You get same lessons as pilot trainee. I only tested one lesson VFR. When that is finished I gonna buy IFR

1CGS LukeFF Posted January 3, 2023 1CGS Posted January 3, 2023 Well, we made it back to Fresno, but man, was it a bumpy ride. Picked up some more passengers afterward and delivered them back across the rain and the Sierras to Mammoth, at night. Much better landing this time! ? (And wow, is VNAV sure a nice feature) 2
Lusekofte Posted January 3, 2023 Posted January 3, 2023 I try to get my head around radio navigation in DC 3. Managing a correct line up for landing in the DC 6 I come to the conclusion I need to do mathematics in order to do it historically correct. So my next plan is to cheat. 1
CUJO_1970 Posted January 3, 2023 Posted January 3, 2023 CAK3 Delta Heritage to KORS, Orcas Island in British Columbia: Sorry for the photo dump, but it's just so pretty...this truck reflection on the undersurface of the wing, lol. 6 2
Lusekofte Posted January 3, 2023 Posted January 3, 2023 When in Flight I switch from VR to screen. And my urge to screenshot is a constant battle. The vintage planes just keep me going. And some Cessna and Twin Otter and that 145 chopper. I hope one day they improve and get rid of the limitation for choppers.
1CGS LukeFF Posted January 3, 2023 1CGS Posted January 3, 2023 Well, I learned a few things last night after I think I got a bit cocky earlier in the day: It's a bad idea flying a C172 above 14000 feet. It's a bad idea flying a C172 above 14000 feet in a snowstorm. It's a bad idea flying a C172 above 14000 feet in a snowstorm above the Sierras. I tried the Mammoth to South Lake Tahoe route by flying above the Sierras without either rechecking that the C172 isn't supposed to fly that high, even on the best of days, and to top it off there was a vicious snowstorm over the area (I think the weather report said the visibility was 10 inches). Yeah, bad idea. I crashed the plane on the first attempt just trying to get over the initial peaks, then on the second time a nasty downdraft sent me straight into a mountainside. Third time I made it, but just barely - another downdraft pointed me straight downwards, but I immediately chopped the throttle and was able to recover. I'm sure the passengers loved that! ? So, it's back to SkyVector, where I found I should've taken a more eastly route, around all that nasty high-altitude stuff. Will give it another try tonight! 2 1
Lusekofte Posted January 3, 2023 Posted January 3, 2023 (edited) Ok to not have to do mathematics I used the retrofit DC3 for a bush trip. I discovered 1 thing *If you hit a tree with your landing gear, it will change direction very fast. And they are not to be ignored in parking lot. in special if you do not have pull back The Duckworks mod is actually very good. It gives the DC 3 va lot of immersion Edited January 3, 2023 by Lusekofte 1
1CGS LukeFF Posted January 4, 2023 1CGS Posted January 4, 2023 (edited) Speaking of the DC-3, I think I'm going to use this page as an inspiration for where to fly it in the remote Alaskan wilderness: https://desertairalaska.com/where-we-fly Lots of options! Edited January 4, 2023 by LukeFF 1
Lusekofte Posted January 4, 2023 Posted January 4, 2023 Yes that’s looks good. I have flown very little over there now in the dark. I fly local in darkness but the airstrips got light. I will follow that up closer to spring
Guest deleted@83466 Posted January 4, 2023 Posted January 4, 2023 How you guys live in 6 months of darkness is beyond my comprehension, btw.

Last sight of sun is November 15 ish, we see first sight of it January 21. For a few minutes. You get used to it, what bother me most, is the weather we gotten last years. Changing from sub zero to warm. Snow and rain in January. Far worse are snow blizzards in May, those make you reconsider where you live. Then summer come along, I get reminded that we have no lack of water, I can walk the mountain 24/7 , witch I often do wintertime too. You have to pay a price, no matter where you live, to do what I like. Hunting and fishing. Then these sleepless periods are not so bad price to pay 2
CUJO_1970 Posted January 4, 2023 Posted January 4, 2023 Geez it's almost like too much of a good thing. Study level Maule on it's way, can't wait! https://msfsaddons.com/2023/01/03/pilot-experience-sim-announces-study-level-maule-m7-for-microsoft-flight-simulator/ 1
Lusekofte Posted January 4, 2023 Posted January 4, 2023 In www.flightsim.to you get a iPad with nab aid mounted on the ceiling. I think that will be my cheat, this way I can fly retro with gyro autopilot. Make my day 3 minutes ago, CUJO_1970 said: can't wait! This might be the one, for sure. Lusekofte Posted January 4, 2023 Posted January 4, 2023 (edited) Started Southest airfield in Argentina, Taking 2 hours legs north. Crossing US and take the ww2 route to UK and then Farao Island up To Tromsoe Using clasic, and Duckwork mod and realistic flight mod. I know nothing of it being more realistic, but it seems like to be a bit more alive in turbulence at least Edited January 4, 2023 by Lusekofte 2 1

Go again to Foz do Iguacçu and take us some pictures of the Iguaçu Falls.
Lusekofte Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 Anyone experienced with the DC6? I have a problem. When landed on destination I sometimes want to take off again. Make myself a new flight plan in gps I do this check if I need fuel and take off Wet or dry. After takeoff with ai copilot handeling the throttle it suddenly loose power on all engine. I switch of ai throttle and power up again but to no avail. I go down with far to little speed and altitude. I let ai handle throttle almost always. If I start a new from main there is no problem and engines + props are ok in service log

This is without a doubt one of the best places to fly...I'm collecting all the Orbx airports, along with others from here all the way up to Unalaska and Nome. flightsim.to also has a very nice (and free) San Juan Islands download. 1
kestrel79 Posted January 12, 2023 Posted January 12, 2023 Are all the clickable buttons in each stock aircraft able to be assigned to buttons on my joystick and throttle? I have started some of the built in training missions in the Cessna 152 and have assigned some buttons to turn on the aircraft lights which works great, however I want to also assign some switches on my Warthog Throttle to start up the Battery and start the engine, stuff like that. I assign the button in game, but nothing happens. Am I mapping the right thing? Or are some buttons in planes just not mappable and you have to click them with the mouse?
