What a great story!!!

Not sure how I feel about this. On one hand you have to admire the creativity but if I were in multiplayer and saw a dragon or wierd animation character flying past I don’t know what I would think. It would kill immersion.

I haven’t done multiplayer yet, but I suppose there would be a way to block things out?

I wonder how an updated version of this beast would run FS2020.

Finally got a response from Rex support. They were sorry for delayed response as they’ve been flooded with tickets....surprise surprise...releasing a beta product with bugs!

Anyway they gave me access to a updated test version to try.

I’ll probably download and try out later.

Try to climb but even 12 000 feet is not high enough

Lol Paused the game for that pick, then the plane went into a stall because of pause

Well next leg M20

I see you have the Mooney, how are you liking it? I'm a fan of the Mooney but not a big fan of Carenado.

I find it good, but hard to trim.
Fast GA without glass pit, witch I like. I have seen bad critiques on it, but it do not have more funny quirks thane 152 in bad weather. Flown normally it behaves more aggressive than Cessnas much faster and a little fighter like. I truly appreciate it.
But as I said a little twitchy and annoying trim

Not too expensive either. Someone mentioned Global Weather. Might be worthwhile to see how that turns out.

If it's not too expensive and is available in the marketplace I might consider it.

It's just presets. It is not a weather engine at all, just some selection of nicely arranged clouds.

Posted

Do these 'presets' do anything that you can't achieve yourself through moving a few sliders around in the custom weather settings?

Can we do that now?

I am quite satisfyed with live weather we have in game. I tested it several times up against weather reports on TV. It might be a coincident, but to me it seems ok.
The bad weather looks beautiful in stock game in my opinion

Custom weather settings - wind speed and direction, temperature, cloud layers, visibility etc - have been in the sim since release. They are global settings of course, unlike the 'real' weather which changes with time and location. Once you have come up with a setting you like, you can save it as a preset. Which seems to be all that Orbix are selling. Personally, if that is all they are offering, I'd give it a miss, since working out for yourself how to achieve specific results has to be more useful than loading someone else's paid-for presets.

Pitch (set for level until you are at the speed you want for cuise)

Power (adjust for economy)

Trim (Fine tune as needed)

You obviosly add rough trim in between these inputs, but this is the correct method. Chasing trim is the way to insanity. You have to establish your desired flight parameters before fine trimming.

Imagine selling presets. I don't want to be anywhere near that gaming community.

I'd be surprised if that many from the gaming community buy it. From what I've seen on the forums, there seems to be a fair bit of scepticism about the value of some products coming out right now.

You will be able to judge a community by actually be there when older.
But I find the forum a mess, I find ED forum a mess. So apart from waiting for BON I use this forum for DCS and FS 2020.
I need 4 different sim’s in order to stay in this genre. I get unimaginable fed up when I am fed up, and ecstatic when I am in.
Right now it is FS 2020 and COD that got my attention.

Haha, we are pretty much the same then in that "unimaginable fed up when I am fed up, and ecstatic when I am in".

No extra Haagen-Dasz? Just settings?

Gross.

It may be just presets, but there are probably some where time is more important that 8 bucks. I'm still on the fence about buying even if its less than a burger and fries, but ORBIX wouldn't be making it if they didn't believe it would be worthwhile.

For VR users the beta has been started,

https://www.flightsimulator.com/vr-closed-beta-information/

My DIY PC bench is nearly finished, installed the extra 2x8 GB RAM, 1TB NVMe, Arctic Freezer2 360 watercooler for max overclocking the 9700k, only waiting for the RTX3080 or BIGnavi.

Sorry @1c, I'm setting my money not for preBoN and the Hurricane, nope, it will go for the next benchmark in flysims.

Man, I can not wait for FS2020 in VR.

Never been interested of MS Flight Simulators, I am so much of a combat pilot, but have to say VR and this 2020 flight sim is intriguing.

Yeah once VR support is official I will have to grab this one as well.

Had some good times back in the FSX days. Been a long time.

My first love will always be WWII Combat though.

This is the sim making me give my VR to my son. I will not waste my time on VR with this sim personally. I use rather a second screen as gps and other eyecandy.

Weather is not great I was hoping to get a real BAttle of Britain overview in this leg, I turned on view other players, I will turn it off, it was kind of a immersion killer

Fog thick as soup. Landed at Bournemouth Airfield. I will turn of view other players and on taxi aid, I always get lost in these big airfields

ORBX makes some really nice stuff, no question, I'm just not sure some of the add ons-are worth it in this sim. In FSX a lot of the scenery and weather mods (REX, etc) added to the sim exponentially, now it's incremental.

Part of the problem is the sim already looks so damn good and you can get it for $80Cdn. I haven't bought an add-ons yet. Need that Twin Otter!

I buy all planes in markedplace. And Norwegian airfields. Bugs reported due to liveries in community folder keep me away from any freeware for the time being.
I have my worldtour. But are looking for a difficult backyard airstrip in Guatemala, Alaska, Canada as a base for a cub.
I will keep away from trouble as far as I can regarding any installation. Since I am pretty much spared from bugs countless of so called “dedicated simmers” dramaqueens bug report.
I can see there is some problems with tubeliners, but they have a pretty nagging way to put it over and over and over and over and over again

Posted

I don't intend to buy any add on, unless it's an aircraft I'm interested in, without a glass cockpit of course... I'm enjoying the game as it is.

Probably best to take things slow before buying add-ons. I already did once with Rex and it was half baked. In a few months things may settle down and you can read reviews and get a better idea of whats good and whats not.

Yes I bought that latest one. Cub like thingy. Pretty sure it is good. But glass cockpit. And then not my favorite.

Okay, just bought it.  Cleared some space and it appears to be installing to the correct drive.  We'll see how it goes...

Not a decision you're likely to regret. ?️

How about keeping track of how long it takes for interest's sake - and maybe for entertainment going by your previous estimate. Good luck!

Hopefully it will run.  If it continues at the same steady pace it should make its way through this Australian internet by Sunday morning.
