BP update procedure

Just a question on installing the coming BP and FC1 updates:

Is it maybe a good thing to reinstall the lot as a new fresh download?

Unless you're experiencing corruption problems at the moment then I don't see why. I've never experienced any issues while updating BoX.

When it's ready to download, instead of 'Play' showing up in the IL2 opening window, it'll automatically start to update.

All you have to do is wait.. it's worse than watching the kettle boil. Takes a darn sight longer too .

Unless you back up the correct files, it will overwrite all of your control assignments careers and preferences also.

While that can happen, it isn't how it is supposed to work, and I've only lost control settings once in 5 years, from what I remember.

If there was a folder missing that's not part of the patch, does it automatically figure it out and update it?

To clarify, if you uninstall and do a clean install, you would need to back up your controller assignments first....

It is certainly not necessary for an update

These are not the updates you are looking for.

There are no problems with updates if one use Steam, in any case I do not have any.

Just the word is like throwing chum into shark infested waters at this point!

To the OP, last patch update was a bit crazy and for me it was the first time I had trouble with the update. I believe they have ironed out most of the issues, and the next patch/download should be much smoother. That being said, with how huge it is liable to be, its likely going to be 'set it and leave it overnight' for me to download it, given my speed and the download speeds their server often gives.

Anyone else having startup problems after the update?  Mine downloaded and installed fine but when I click enter at the login it says "#1: No connection with authorization server & #2 Your connection to the Master-Server was temporarily lost.  Check you internet connection."  So I try offline and I get "#10005: Please update your game: new version available."  I'm at a loss what to do next . . . . .

You might try to restart your computer.  That seems to work with most of the updates.
