Scramble but don't kill the ground crew

S! All

It's taken a while, but I have finally worked out how to post videos. This is a single player mission I put together to test some home made winter skins, I hope you enjoy it.

I tried to create a custom thumbnail as I'm not happy with any of the 3 supplied, but any screenshots I took were way too big and not accepted, so any advice on how to improve this and anything else is always welcome.

Thank you for watching

The video overall is pretty much good to watch. The only thing I would say is that each 'scene' could be cut down quite a bit in length. It's really only necessary to 'suggest' what's happening to the viewer as they can pretty much tell almost straight away.

Generally a story like this is in 3 parts.

Intro, where you set up the story. Who's in it, how many and what they do to get ready (ie start-up, main character, enemies and their numbers and intent)

Main  where the two antagonist parties meet/clash and quick cuts between clips to make it more action-packed with hits, gunfire, crashes etc.

Outro Telling the conclusion. Returning to base, landing, enemies limping home etc and then (classically) our hero eventually stopping his engine and the 'thumbs-up' (which you did really well).

You could almost have halved the actual length of the whole video and still told the same story equally as well and maybe even better. That's NOT a criticism by any means, just my take on it. I hope it helps?

For Thumbnails: Run your video (from source not from the Upload), stop it where you want the thumbnail to be from, take a screenshot and save it as a jpeg and then upload it to YouTube in the custom thumbnail box. Simples!!

Cheers

Hi

Thx very much for taking the time and trouble to help, I totally agree about the length, but I don't have any editing software, I can only use what is in the track, the only editing is the camera angle, so it's always going to have to be 10 mins long (unless I can shoot them down quicker)! Or have more planes in the air or vehicles moving around to fill in the time better.

For the thumbnail, I took a screenshot of the track, I dloaded a converter but the jpeg is still way too big, youtube will only use  a max of 2mb for the thumbnail, jpeg is over 5mb, so not so simples for me yet ?

cheers

What you need is DEFINITELY some editing software! To think you did it without any is nothing short of brilliant, knowing that!! Fair play to you. ;)

Thx

Is there any editing software you can recommend? I don't mind paying for it, if it is better than the free ones on offer.

I've just been learning to skin using gimp over the last few weeks (by trial and error), and would like to showcase the skins in videos that other ppl might find interesting.

cheers
