Matt Posted September 22, 2019 Posted September 22, 2019 (edited) It's the same pilot model as in the P-47 and the relative size of the P-51 model compared to the P-47 is correct (just checked it). And this is how it looks like in the P-47, i don't think the pilot should look any bigger. So i would say, it's correct like it is. Also note that in most modern day photos, the pilot is wearing a pretty big helmet. Edited September 22, 2019 by Matt 1

Cpt_Siddy Posted September 22, 2019 Posted September 22, 2019 Time to ramp up the strength of them glasses up a notch, OP. 1
AndyJWest Posted September 22, 2019 Posted September 22, 2019 The explanation is quite simple. They only wanted to model one pilot. But in the interests of historical accuracy, they wanted to model someone who had flown all the aircraft. Which left only one choice: Eric 'Winkle' Brown. Winkle was 5ft 7in tall. Seriously though, trying to overlay a screenshot with a photo clearly taken at a different distance and angle proves nothing, and comparing a pilot wearing a bone-dome with one in a leather helmet isn't much use either. 2 3
Bremspropeller Posted September 22, 2019 Posted September 22, 2019 The canopes are different, too. The in-game aircraft does have a variation of the Iglewood design, while Frenesi clearly has a Dallas canopy. http://www.gaetanmarie.com/p-51dk-mustang-canopy-variations/ 2 1
Trooper117 Posted September 22, 2019 Posted September 22, 2019 (edited) In the comparison pics, remember that the Mustang had different types of blown canopy whilst in service... that makes a huge difference to how the pilot size looks to the naked eye... Follow the link to see different canopy types... http://www.gaetanmarie.com/p-51dk-mustang-canopy-variations/ Ah... I see Brems beat me to it! Edited September 22, 2019 by Trooper117 2
