External camera doesn't work + Does Il2 have clickable cockpits?

First post so hi all :)

As in title. I can not use any cameras/views other than the cockpit one. I would like to use external camera to look around airport to find a runway and overall to look at my airplane and stuff :). F2 key doesn't do anything ?

Other question: can I use mouse to click around the cockpit, to move levers etc?

Thx in advance for help.

Cheers

First one: check your difficulty settings (realism) - if the option "allow spectators" is not checked, you won't be able to use external views (cameras like F2, F3 etc.)

Second one: No - and thanks God - IL2 does not have clickable cockpits, it doesn't really make sense. In a F16 or MIG 29 OK, here it makes some sense, but not in

a WWI or WWII airplane.

And be aware that some servers (expert settings) don't allow external views.

To be fair, clickable cockpits would totally work. There's definitely room in WW2 aircraft for study-sim level modeling, especially when you start dealing with more complex aircraft.

Is it _necessary_? No, not really, and by not going into that level of interactivity the devs are able to provide more content than they would otherwise with the resources and time that they have, a trade that is well worth making.

But in an ideal world where dev resources are unlimited, I certainly would love to have study-sim levels of detail for all aircraft . :)

Click pits sure work  - see FSX for instance. Its a matter of personal preference tho, and around here the "jurisprudence" has been ruled as a no-go. With good arguments too. Too bad though, a minority (me included) would like to see it happen. But it won't, but that is easy to live with.

I would love clikpit :)

If it won't affect performance or that we don't have to wait one year per plane to be released.

I have found that assigning HOTAS controls that operate in the same area in relation to my seating position and the direction as the in cockpit animations makes the controls in VR way more intuitive than clicking with a mouse. It requires memorizing multiple (30ish) controls, but once that’s practiced for a bit, it’s not hard to recall.

Yep - a that's a good thing, especially for those old boys like me - it's a great practice for your memory and keeps your brain

busy and trained! So you won't forget things when you get older and older.

But there was something else in my mind I wanted to say... and now I forgot it, damn!
