dburne Posted September 20, 2019 Posted September 20, 2019 (edited) Early info looks interesting, especially in the resolution ( app 2x Reverb). Anticipated early 2021. https://www.roadtovr.com/vality-is-building-a-compact-vr-headset-with-ultra-high-resolution/ Nice to see companies joining the fray and looking to further VR. This one certainly looks quite interesting, if can't have both I would take higher resolution over FOV any day. Maybe my Rift S will hold out till then... Edited September 20, 2019 by dburne

Don: Have you ever tried an HMD that offered a greater FOV than the Oculus?

Not yet I have not. The only one currently that might interest me some would be the Index as far as FOV, but not a huge fan of Steam VR so going to hold out a little longer with my Rift S. And really I would be more interested in resolution than FOV, so likely only one I would get if I were to get another at this time would be the Reverb. But I am just not there yet. Also OC6 is next week, I will be curious to hear Oculus plans - though I have no expectations for anything for PC-VR, except in the software realm. Edited September 21, 2019 by dburne

The REVERB without a doubt offers the best clarity. The PIMAX 5K+ is priced on the high side of most other units, but does offer comparable clarity and with the larger FOV, which I personally feel is almost as important as clarity. I personally cannot take advantage of PIMAX's 200 degree FOV with my rig because the spread out view becomes too blurry for comfort but their mid FOV is quite good. Most all of us tout our own unit as being the best available on the market and I am no exception but I really would like to see the REVERB clarity with a PIMAX FOV, that would be the HMD I would open the wallet for any day. 1

That is a lot of pixels! I have had a 5K+, Index & Reverb and would say the clarity is in that order. A bit more screen door and slightly less clarity with the 5K+ compared to the Index but of course the FOV is the 5K+ strength. I discovered that clarity trumps FOV for me personally but I think all three are excellent headsets and the "best" is very subjective. Great times for VR

Great times for VR Then there is the 8K which is doing quite well now days with image clarity if you can drive it at decent render targets. Both FOV and clarity are my desires. Will see what will be coming down the track in 10 hours with the Pimax update live stream. 1
