-TBC-AeroAce Posted September 27, 2019 Posted September 27, 2019 (edited) I did very well flying a C152 and soloing in 3.5 hour mostly based on my sim experience. BUT being a sim player tough me very bad things and if it was anything other than a Cessna I would have been killed. The big difference between real life and sims is that in sims you tend to keep your head in the cockpit more looking at the gauges. In real life they actually cover up the instruments to begin with to make sure your head is out of the cockpit. It took me a long time to naturally keep the ball centered with out looking at the slip ball. Edited September 27, 2019 by AeroAce
1111mark*norma* Posted September 30, 2019 Posted September 30, 2019 World War II was not a game. Sorry !!
FTC_Kriechbaum Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 It would help you quite a bit more than not having any knowledge from air combat. Especially the russians early in the war and later in the war the german pilots went into combat with totally insufficient training. A sim like this one will definately help you. Most players have more hours in the sim than the vast majority of pilots back then. And a lot of these hours were spent in simulated combat, too. That you will have to be physically fit and have some big balls to actually fly a real plane even remotely in the way you are in the sim, well that goes without question.
EAF19_Marsh Posted October 4, 2019 Posted October 4, 2019 Having just stubbed my toe, I can confirm that real life is more painful. 1
