It's a completely different type of aircraft, so it's not really comparable.

 

However, when it comes to combat effectiveness, there might be something to what you say. From what I've read, the Pe-2 had a reputation for being able to deliver its payload rather accurately (contrary to the IL-2) It had good survivability, much higher top speed and something of a fearsome reputation among Luftwaffe pilots, posibly due to its high speed which meant, that when attacking from behind, the German fighter would have to stay exposed to the Pe-2s gunners for much longer.

 

I think it's gonna be an interesting experience to fly and fight in the Peshka.

That model looks fantastic! How cool would it be to walk around that thing in flight with your guy trying to keep balance. Really like that shot at dusk/dawn with the cinema effect. Hope you guys include other similar 'built in' features for movie makers. Not sold on the tracers, effects, and landscape though.

 Pe-2 looks nice. Finns used these as well, bought from Germans the captured ones. While decently fast they were considered a maintenance nightmare due the systems being complicated but not being too reliable and lot of electrically controlled stuff. Nevertheless Pe-2's had quite good service record in FiAF. Pilots who attacked them said Bf109G-2/6 had no difficulty catching it and Pe-2 was very suspectible to fire when hitting wings between engines and fuselage. Will be interesting to fly this bird

That looks really nice. The thing that puts me off when flying the Il-2 is the very claustrophobic feeling and bad visibility. I think the Pe-2 will be the non-fighter planetype i'll spend the most time in.

I would love to see some POV shake when that rear MG fires, seems unrealistic without; and tire deformation would really give some weight to those superb models. Aside from the guy falling out at the end, the landing just seemed like it didn't have any ommpf.

So I saw PE-2 is available in multiplayer, friends can jump in a role.   I assume at some point this will also be in single player with AI in the roles?   Am I wrong, can't wait to try it when I get home.

The gunner positions have been unlocked for the IL-2 and JU87.

  I imagine that if it is anything like ROF, you can start and control the engines independently, as for the historical accuracy of how it was handled in the livestream, I think it was made pretty clear that it was more to show off the plane, not so much to worry about the proper procedures.

 

  They did have limited time after all, it makes sense to just get it in the air as quick as possible.

You can control every feature of engine management separately for each engine, just like in ROF.

Tactically it's best to avoid the 109s ... and the Pe-2 has a decent chance of that seeing as it's fairly fast. It's not as well protected as the IL-2 so speed and its defensive turret capabilities are the thing that will save it.
