Two upcoming space simulations

Hello!

Just wanted to drop this here! I have always been a fan of space and space simulations. I've played X-wing, wing commander and others over the years and enjoy the genre.

As you may know, the guy behind wing commander and freelancer is working on "Star Citizen", a new and ambitious project to bring us a simulator/mmo game that blends singleplayer and multiplayer over an ever-changing universe.

You can check it out over at www.robertsspaceindustries.com and back the project by pre-ordering a ship etc.

I would also like to point out that a hardcore simulator is being developed by a single retired USAF technician and experienced game-developer. It's called "Rogue System" and focuses a lot on switchology and operating spacecraft systems. It looks really interesting, and is currently under a kickstarter campaign.

Watch the videos, read the news and if you like it, back it at the kickstarter page.

Here is the site: http://www.roguesystemsim.com  .

Here is a video from the kickstarter, and also a startup demonstration:

In addition I have been monitoring something called "Infinity: The quest for earth", also known as "infinity space sim". It looks to have some really cool seamless atmospheric to space flight mechanics that do appeal to me. The planet and atmospheric engine gives a very realistic look to it.

It also has a scheduled kickstarter campaign for summer 2013, check it out over here: http://www.infinity-universe.com/Infinity/index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=26

It also has a few videos to demonstrate planet engine:

Finally, I have been messing around with Kerbal Space Program.

Although it's not a true sim in every aspect, it is a real sandbox space program experience. You can build pretty much anything you like. Wether it's a command capsule attached to a single rocket engine, or a massive space voyager, that can be assembled in orbit and refueled prior to it's voyage. The community is very good, and people upload their masterpieces all the time. There are virtually thousands of youtube videos that showcase the game and the modding community is also large.

The site is www.kerbalspaceprogram.com and here are a few videos:

Here is the lastest video in the dev diary series. He talks about combat, shields and damage, while flying the ship. Have a look:

Rogue System does look pretty good indeed. I'm eager to see how this pans out.

The Kerbal Space Program (KSP) is awesome, so much fun to be had in their sandbox.

Here's a short clip I made using KSP a little while ago.
