Most competitive fighter of the collector planes?

Hi there,

I'm wondering which of the planes currently on sale would be the most competitive in a fighter vs. fighter situation.  I would just buy Bodenplatte but I am on permanent disability and I have a limited budget.  Plus, I am more of a early war/mid-war fan anyways.  But for online MP servers, when I feel like flying something more competitive, which would you choose?

I bought the Spit 5b already.  It flies beautifully and feels fantastic.  My guess is it would do fine fighter vs. fighter, even if a bit slow compared to some fighters.  I'd like to pick up one more plane during the sale.  I'm thinking either the La-5FN or the 109-G6.  The FN would probably be easier but the G6 may be more competitive if flown with a lot of patience?  I'm fine with that and find the G6 to be an interesting plane, even if it is usually a bit heavy without the more powerful engines of the G10/G14/K4.

Thanks for your thoughts!  I love all planes and do not need to dominate or anything silly like that.  It's more for variety, as I usually fly a lot of underdog planes in these type of games.  I really want to get the P-40 but I'd really like at least one "thoroughbred" in my stable.  Maybe the 190-A3 I already have is that plane, but what fun is that when there is a sale?  Plus, I want to support this great series when I can.

190A3, Yak1B and the La5FN. Obviously it depends on the exact timeframe they're placed in. The A3 is extremely competitive against the earlier Soviet machines, the 1B is generally good throughout, the FN has dominant performance but is at the tail end of the eastern front timeline so won't be in that many historical campaigns.

Most competitive in terms of usability/timeframe/capabilities I would say 1B>A3>FN.

The G6 is mostly historical value, capability wise it is at best a sidegrade versus the G4/2, the P40 is generally not considered competitive or easy to fly. If you're on a tight budget and looking for 'good' planes skip those last few.

I would wait for the Yak 9 to be released ( although it is kinda unconfirmed yet )

The FN is the most competitive between all collectors. It can easily keep up with early Bobp planes like the G-14 and A-8...

As it is right now Yak-1b would be my favorite, closely followed by La-5FN and 190-A3. If rumours are correct and they release a Spitfire XIV, that one might be the new No1.

Well, a kind member of this forum gifted me the G6 and FN!  So, I should be set since I had already bought the Spit Vb and Yak 1b yesterday and today.  Problem solved, hah!  Thanks to everyone.

Yep, definitely.  You'll have to compete with it all the way!

Thats why I like it though :)

Of course, you can wait for a sale, and then treat them all like pokemon...
