SR603-Flowbee Posted September 11, 2019 Posted September 11, 2019 (edited) https://www.mediafire.com/file/lczuf7h35ynm92a/Bf109G6_Public_4k_II_JG300_red_6_v12.dds/file The question is why is an aircraft of JG300 pictured with a green band instead of a red band? Artistic license or mistake? Or could it be the following... "In July, 1943, a decision was made to from an entire Jagddivision, with Jagdgeschwader 300 under Major Hajo Herrmann as the initial unit. Each of the new units, JG 300 near Bonn, JG 301 near Munich, and JG 302 near Berlin, were equipped with a single Gruppe of fighters. Formed primarily around the heavily armored Fw 190A, the limited availability of surplus aircraft forced each of the Jagdgeschwader to utilize the day fighters of other units operating from the same bases. This resulted in the use of several Bf 109G-6s in the new night-fighting role." There are some original b/w photos in existence which show the aircraft with no band at all and lots of overpainting but these could have been taken at a later time (note the extra kills). I have no idea but I liked the profile anyway. Maybe I will have a go at the other version but it could end up a mess. Update: OK here is my messy NachtJaeger attempt at Red 6. I never realised how creating a mess was actually difficult. https://www.mediafire.com/file/e17g18gnm7y13av/Bf109G6_Public_4k_II_JG300_nightfighter_red_6_v9.dds/file Edited January 12, 2020 by Flowbee_603 update 9 1 1

PatCartier Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 (edited) Airborn ! one 4k skin of Bf 109 G6 flown by René Darbois, 3/JG4 Template by Rafiger & friends Using 4k normal map is highly recommended René Darbois was born in Metz in 1923. He was therefore 17 years old at the time of the armistice when the regions of eastern France, Alsace and Lorraine were annexed by the Third Reich. Young Frenchmen were then enlisted in the German army. Darbois chose the Luftwaffe, hoping that the long training as an aviator would enable him to escape the fighting against the Allies. But he finished his training in June 1944 and was assigned to 3/JG4 in northern Italy, near Udine. From then on, he fomented escape plans. He took advantage of his full tanks during the transfer of his squadron to Ghédia to desert. Darbois finally landed at Santa Maria airfield, north of Naples, to the great surprise of the soldiers of the 72nd US Air Force Liaison Squadron3. Having joined the Allied forces, Darbois ended the war over Germany, on a Spitfire V within the G.C. 1/3 Corse. DOWNLOAD Edited December 30, 2019 by PatCartier 11 4 3

Madcop Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 (edited) Hi Pat Looking forward for this one. Typical Erla machine and camo scheme. Should normally have the typical Erla saw toothed camo on wings, (as on G5 model, as they shared the same assembly line.) W.Nr 27068, was lost on February 44 ( Bob Wartburg JG54 losslist). I let the artist decide on this as, as usual, there is no "evidence " and no picture of this aircraft allowing to see the upper surfaces.) I wish you a very happy New Year and beatiful skins to come ... Madcop Ouuuuups...sorry, there is one picture where we can faintly discern the saw thoothed pattern on the left wing.... PatCartier Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 (edited) I don't think so. Spoiler If you know any other picture of this aircraft, I would be happy to see it. Edited December 31, 2019 by PatCartier
Pierre64 Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 I agree with PatCartier : look at this better scan of the only known (by me) photograph of this Bf 109 G-6 flown by Oblt. Wilhelm Schilling, Staffel Kapitän of 9./JG 54, Ludwiglust, lost on 10th or 20th February 1944. W.Nr. 440141 according to Forsyth & Creek in the old "Defending the Reich" (Vol. 5 - Section 1of the Luftwaffe Colours serie. And "probably" W.Nr. 27068 according to the more recent Luftwaffe Gallery "JG 54 Special Album" by Mombeeck & Goralcyk. 1 1
PatCartier Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 I'm looking for other picture of JG54's G6s with the blue band. I found profiles of yellow 9, 6 and 11 but just a crapy picture of the 6. I found profile for black 11 and 1 too + white 1 but no picture... ?
Pierre64 Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 (edited) Two different Yellow 6s of III./JG 54, both flown (at different dates) by Fw. Fritz Ungar, the second was belly landed on 6th March 1944. Edited December 31, 2019 by Pierre64 1
