Mitthrawnuruodo Posted September 11, 2019 Posted September 11, 2019 A GTX 1050 Ti is good enough to enjoy Il-2 with medium settings. The other components are not great but not terrible. If that TV is 4K (3840 by 2160), do not use the native resolution in Il-2, as it's far too high for that card to handle. Drop down to 1920 by 1080 or use the Dynamic Resolution Factor to get reasonable performance. If you feel like doing some small hardware upgrades, consider replacing the hard drive with an SSD to spend less time staring at loading screens and improve general system responsiveness. 1 2
Letayushi_Medved Posted October 29, 2019 Posted October 29, 2019 I have Lenovo laptop - Legion y520 with i7 - 7700HQ / 16GiB RAM / 1050ti 4GiB and I can tell you that the GPU handles very well but the CPU is what cant handle the load.
Dukethejuke Posted November 9, 2019 Author Posted November 9, 2019 Looking at getting the GIGABYTE GF GTX 1660 Ti Windforce, your thoughts are appreciated. I am getting the digital Hard drive per your rec. thanks for responding.
Mitthrawnuruodo Posted November 9, 2019 Posted November 9, 2019 The 1660 Ti is a great GPU to play Il-2 at 1080p resolution. 2 hours ago, dukethejuke said: I am getting the digital Hard drive per your rec. thanks for responding. I'm not sure what you mean by "digital hard drive". I would not recommend any hard disk drive (HDD) storage. Instead, you should get a solid-state drive (SSD).
Dukethejuke Posted November 9, 2019 Author Posted November 9, 2019 SSD is what I meant to say, going for broke on that. Samsung EVO 1TB M.2 NVMe. Now when you say 1080p you are saying it's not good for 4K is that correct? My monitor is not 4K SSD is what I meant to say, going for broke on that. Samsung EVO 1TB M.2 NVMe. What you need is a SATA SSD such as a Samsung 860 EVO. 27 minutes ago, dukethejuke said: Now when you say 1080p you are saying it's not good for 4K is that correct? My monitor is not 4K That's correct. The graphics card isn't really powerful enough for much higher resolutions, but it will have no problems at 1080p. Also, I'd recommend checking that the graphics card is compatible with the PC in terms of physical dimensions as well as power connectors and power supply load. Dukethejuke Posted November 9, 2019 Author Posted November 9, 2019 (edited) They sell an adapter for the EVO M.2 that fits in the white bus. but I will check as you recommend. I am also going to check power supply. I am building this as I go have stuff sitting in my Amazon cart. I know buying a real gaming computer is the easy way out but building it will be fun. But I will check on everything you suggest . Thanks again! But I am not done with you yet. For your info that pic is my father , he was a Pole in the RAF not a pilot, he went to the down planes and salvaged the electronics. Edited November 9, 2019 by dukethejuke
Dukethejuke Posted November 9, 2019 Author Posted November 9, 2019 Checked the inside of computer and card will not fit. Think I will build from scratch. what the hell? Treat myself. It never ends until the final taxi.
