Deploying Missions - .msbin or .mission files

So... I thought I had read somewhere in patch notes within the past year - six months that in BOS as opposed to ROF, that we were now supposed to place missions on the server for people to play in .mission format as opposed to .msbin format.

So when I host missions I'm currently deploying every single mission file to the server EXCEPT the .msbin

Can someone please confirm that this is or is not correct for IL2?

Someone is concerned that doing it this way will potenitally contribute to a server overload, which of course I'd like to avoid - especially in a campaign environment.

Thanks!

Use the .msnbin file. Just keep the .mission file in some other location as a backup, as many times when there's an update you need to resave the .mission file to get an updated .msnbin file.

Wrong.

On the dedicated server you must use the msnbin file and do not copy the mission file on the dedicated server. That's why when you play on server, you have only the msbin file.

By default, if you have both files (mission and msbin files), the server will use the mission file.

What is the result of using the mission file ?

- The mission files is heavier than the msbin file.

- The server will take more time to load the mission on the dedicated server.

- The server will take more time to upload the mission to every players.

- Player will take more time toconnect  to the server (link to the previous point).

- It will limit the bandwith for the server. Provider of the hardware of teh dedicated server can put a limit of bandwith.

Warning : You must always keep the mission file somewehere because if you have to delete the msbin file after an update, and don't have the mission file, you lose your mission.

So, on your PC where you build the mission, keep all, but when you use your mission on the dedicated server, upload your mission without the mission file.

Yes, it's the same way we hosted for Rof.
