Planes and parts of planes disappearing/despawning

Whenever I shoot down a plane it just disappears after some seconds. I always like to see the planes crash (one of the reasons I bought this was because of the crash and flight model physics). But now they just straight up disappear. Even when I crash-land my own plane, the parts that fell of just start to despawn or something. 

I didn't have this problem before and just after a 2 gb update it started to happen. 

Is this intentionally done to keep the performance going? And if so, is there a way to turn it off?
If it is a bug, I'd really like to see this fixed as I think it is a real game-breaker.
