Looking for old game...

I have this in my head for quite a long time now but i just can't figure it out. When i was a kid, i remember playing ww2 arcade shooter, where you fly on the pacific. It had both USA and Japan campaign. Graphic was a bit comic style like and cutscenes were actual comic book ones. First mission was Pearl Harbor for both sides . Japan campaign would end with you running out of bombs and kamikadze into a ship. Really fun game i would like to replay but can't find its name. Anyone knows it?

I think you are referring to Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator - WWII Pacific Theater.

I remember trying it and expecting a PTO of Jane's WWII Fighters but was sadly dissapointed in the cartoonist images as you stated.

Yeah! Thanks! It was such a great game, my first fly sim i think :P Did not even know it was a bigger series, i also played heroes over europe but had no idea it was continuation of my childhood game. Wish there was more of these type of games today.

Nah, it was the first pick. Typical arcade 3rd person shooter with like real cartoon look. MS is more like a sim.

But...but...CFS2 was awesome!

Ok,  you could sink a heavy cruiser by repeated strafing with, ahem...4 x 20mm:o: but the cartoonist style was a design choice.

Ah, the memories;  the batsman on the carrier,   multiplayer with all those planes going three times the speed of sound firing 8 x 20mm:wacko: and the work of art and research that was the manual.

I foolishly threw it all away in it's A4 box years ago but I've kept the manual.  it's still a great read.:salute:

CFS2 was great.  If I could just get trackir working with it I'd probably still be flying it for fun from time to time.

I loved CFS 1, flew the hell out of it. I thought CFS 2 was fun as well.

And then, of course, came CFS 3... what an ultimate disaster of ridiculously embarrassing proportions.
