Soon, but probably a while after the final release.

Buy it here and link your IL2 purchases with your Steam account.

You'll be helping the developers and have earlier access to Bodenplatte when it is released. In the meantime you'll enjoy the Bodenplatte planes that have been released on other maps (Stalingrad, Moscow and Kuban).

Guys,

We do not sell BOBP on Steam yet. That will come later. If you want to play BOBP now, you can buy on our website and then LINK it to your BOS purchase on Steam. That will allow you to play all content purchased from both places in one install, but you'll have to launch from Steam to do that. See our Steam Linkage Guide HERE.

General Rules for Steam Linkage:

1. Buy BOS on Steam and link to IL-2 Webstore products = Yes you can.
2. Buy BOS/BOM/BOK/BOBP on IL-2 Webstore and convert to Steam keys = No not possible.

3. On Steam you must first purchase BOS as the base game and then BOM/BOK/BOBP as DLC (This is special Steam rule). In IL-2 Webstore buying BOS first is not necessary, but if you ever want to link them to Steam, you must have BOS purchased on Steam and in your library.

Hi all,

First ever post on here...

I was going to ask a similar question but if you could clarify I would be most grateful!

I have no content at all at this moment in time. I would like to purchase Battle of Bodenplatte, simply for the P-47!! Do I have to purchase BoS on Steam and then BoBP on the website, link my account and then I can fly?

Sorry if this is a silly question and has been covered... just trying to get my head around the best way to fly.

I have flown on il2: CoD in the past and love DCS but I want to get my hands on a P-47!

Thanks!

If you want to play Battle of Bodenplatte via Steam only you need to purchase BoS on Steam and then BoBP on the website.

If Steam doesn’t matter, you can buy only Battle of Bodenplatte on our website.

As Bodenplatte map aren't ready at present you'll be able to use some free maps in the Sinlgeplayer mode and any maps in Multiplayer.

Odd query for Jason and Blacksix,

once you link accounts is the steam edition automatically updated with your website purchases permanantly or only whilst the accounts remain linked?

e.g. I install steam on a new pc and sign in with my steam account, will my IL2 content be complete or will I have to re-link the accounts?

Thanks

Pete

They will still be linked.

Website purchases are linked to your steam account, not that particular install of the steam client.

Oh OK cool, so I could by the game on your website and then play multiplayer on any map online? Are there many servers available and are they well populated?

Edit: am I right in thinking I will need Steam for VR?

You don't need steam for VR. If you bought BoBP on the website, you could use the BoBP map (When it is released) in single player and also the smaller, free maps. You could also fly on multiplayer servers, even if they are using maps you don't own. There are plenty of populated servers.

Are there any benefits to using Steam whatsoever?

If not, the way I see it, you should only make your purchases through IL2sturmovik.com

This will help the developers more too, contributing to the future of the simulator.

Thanks all, that might make my decision a bit easier as I won't use BoS at all so didn't want to pay £40 on Steam for it and then another $63 for BoBP so as long as I can use VR and fly on multiplayer without BoS, I think I'll be a happy man! Thanks again!

Glad to see a new player!

One thing though... once you get into this simulator, there's a high chance you'll want the other packages.

I started off with BoS standard edition, and within a few months I had every single plane available.

Look forward to seeing you on MP!

In general it is better to buy it off website but for some countries there are benefits as the price is considerably lower, for example on Steam in Russia you pay 38.87% less than on the website. Also some people might have accumulated some funds on the Steam wallet, which can be spent on the game, no other benefits are known to me.

This is a danger yes... I used to fly on the ATAG Cliffs of Dover server and loved it but then my PC couldn't keep up with it... I changed PC and now fly VR so Cliffs of Dover is non an option at the minute!

I fly a lot on an aerobatic servers in DCS and love all WW2 aeroplanes but the P-47 is my favourite so to be able to fly it in combat will be awesome!

Do you recommend any servers in particular? I used to like being on TS on the ATAG server too... Any servers running TS too?

Posted

People on Tactical Air War usually use TS, but the current TAW campaign is about to end (usually a few weeks in-between campaigns).  There are quite a few discord servers but not always a set one that you will find everyone on.

The other most popular ones are Combat Box, Knights of the Air (KOTA), and Wings of Liberty (WoL).

Two things to mention.

First, you can only fly the P47 on servers, that offer them for their current missions. If a server has at the moment missions about summer 42 at Stalingrad, for example, there will of course be no P47s available.

Second, advantages of Steam are also much faster downloads of updates, and for people without Paypal or the other payment options of the Sturmovik website, Steam offers one or two additional payment options.

Ok thanks all... Will have a think about it and see how/if I want to buy/download!

I bought BOS, BOM and BOK through Steam in February and March 2019, but i don’t see any purchase in my il2sturmovik.com profile. How do I fix it? Should I link my il2 profile with my steam account? I’m a bit puzzled because of different cases and suggested solutions (versions, date of purchase etc...). What is the right path to follow?

I would buy bodenplatte from il2 site and run in from steam, and I think that solving the mentioned problem would be absolutely necessary.

I had the same, with BoS and BoM. You can link the two accounts to get it all working plainly via IL*2's launcher i think.

I my self wanted to get rid of Steam mainly because of those very irritating advertisements on Steam booting, and re-bought the two from IL*2 themselves.

Olga from support advised me here, as i could not transfer my licenses from Steam to IL*2.

Il*2 support via Olga helped me to un-link the two as i could not find how to do that.

Got two licenses on Steam for sale now, Bos and BoM, i think with some premium planes added, in case any one is interested.

Only use Cliffs via Steam, as there's no alternative option.
