SCG_motoadve Posted August 29, 2019 Posted August 29, 2019 Have some controllers, that need a program to make it work in IL2/ I find Joy to Key very complicated to use. Any other alternatives more user friendly?
Alonzo Posted August 29, 2019 Posted August 29, 2019 I like AutoHotKey but I have to admit it can be pretty complicated. It's a full programming/scripting language and you can do all sorts of quite specific stuff with it, including scripting POV hats, doing key combinations, doing long/short/double-press buttons, etc.
SCG_Wulfe Posted August 29, 2019 Posted August 29, 2019 I like autohotkey. I find it more simple and bulletproof compared to joytokey.
Leon_Portier Posted August 29, 2019 Posted August 29, 2019 I dont know too much about autohotkey, but I´m using Universal Control Remapper, which features a Axis to Key function. As far as I know UCR is just a front end for Autohotkey.
Sokol1 Posted August 29, 2019 Posted August 29, 2019 Of existing keymappers - JoyToKey, SVMapper, Mcabmapper, HidMacros, XPadder, UJR, Joystick Gremlin... JoyToKey is the more simple to use and configure. But the thing is that JoyToKey and most of the others is not full compatible with IL-2:GB series due how game see combos (e.g. LCtrl+F) send by external programs, see F, LCTrl+F. Anyway the more comprehensive and powerful is Joystick Gremlin - a visual GUI for AutoHotKey scripts and compatible with IL-2:GB because allow set delay between keypress and allow mix two or more controllers of different brands in one virtual.

About the set delay option in Joystick Gremlin, do you have a recommended setting for this? I was not aware of this feature.

I like Joystick Gremlin, +1 to trying it out for the OP, but a small correction: as far as I know it's not a GUI for AutoHotKey, it's it's own thing and requires vJoy, which it uses to create virtual joystick devices and then map between physical and virtual joysticks.
SCG_motoadve Posted September 4, 2019 Author Posted September 4, 2019 I tried Joy2key and managed to make it work, but like the first time, it screwed up everything else, even the login to my IL2 account. I tried login in and will get an invalid e mail message. I had to re install the game.
Sokol1 Posted September 4, 2019 Posted September 4, 2019 No reason for JoyToKey "screw" the game, the only thing he does is send keypress or combos (e.g. Alt+key) - and if is not started "As administrator", they key press is ignored by game, due Windows UAC.
madisondavis Posted November 1, 2021 Posted November 1, 2021 AutoHotkey would be the best option and there are also alternative which may help you, you can check them here 1
