Zeev Posted August 28, 2019 Posted August 28, 2019 I just did a quick mission, shot down some planes until my ammo depleted and landed on an airfield (I am sure its ours). Near the airfield my engine stopped working but I successfully landed it without any damage. In the mission summary, the map that shows all your flying path, I see an icon with my nickname "Friendly Zeev was destroyed". 0_0 Was it a bug? 1
357th_Dog Posted August 28, 2019 Posted August 28, 2019 (edited) If your wing roots are ruptured prior to landing, regardless if the wing departs the aircraft, the game considers the aircraft destroyed as it is technically not repairable. The same goes for other damage, including a destroyed engine at times. Edited August 28, 2019 by 357th_Dog
Yogiflight Posted August 28, 2019 Posted August 28, 2019 The biggest issue is in my eyes, when you play a career and your engine stops over enemy territory, but you can land safe on your side, the game always counts where your engine stopped. 1

It looks at the last position the plane is at when the mission ends. It used to be that other way in the past. 1

56RAF_Roblex Posted August 28, 2019 Posted August 28, 2019 Unless something has changed, it never mattered where you were. I have had my engine stop while I was on finals for my own home airfield several times and still been counted as 'shot down'.

It mattered in that way, that if you are counted as shot down over enemy territory, you career ends.

Hmm, I wonder what would happen if your engine has been shot up, is dying but currently still alive and you proactively turn it off before it dies and you glide in for a safe landing. ?

I am pretty sure you get away with it. I don't think I have switched off on finals but I have switched off as soon as my wheels hit the runway and been OK. Maybe I was already safe as long as 'Landed' was recorded before the engine failed but I did it anyway just in case. Edited August 28, 2019 by 56RAF_Roblex
