Mig-3 Defensive maneuvers near escape

Defensive maneuvering in the Mig-3, ACM, and trying to keep the 6o'clock bandit out of plane. How a few mm can save you by trying to think ahead and with the right split second decision moves. Not to mention that some luck was probably involved

Many say the MiG is not manoeuvrable, but I think that's defeatist nonsense. Off to the gulag for anyone who says that!

It's got good speed, armament, cockpit visibility for it's time. Lesser manoeuvrability is mitigated by greater speed. Not sure I'd like to go up against a G14 or K4 in it, but most E and F Messers can be defeated with careful flying and patience. It's still one of my favourites in the game.

And, in my humble opinion, one of the most aesthetically good-looking planes in the game as well...

Cool video and I really like the mig 3

I suggest to avoid climbing manouvers while defending except at the final moments trying to force an overshoot. And even so you have to consider how the enemy is pointing at you and the situation:

Very nice video. Nice job. That said: IMNSHO at time stamp 6:09 when you were on the downside of a loop I believe that either the 109 on your tail was flown by the AI or a human pilot blew an opportunity to merge you and your plane with the sky. He had an altitude advantage for sure. If he'd come off his back he could have pushed the stick forward and should have been able to blast you out of the sky on the shallow dive he'd be making.

Just sayin' and not having actually been there - well - an observers perspective is quite often very different from a pilot's.
