It's part of a wider problem with how flaps are modeled. Besides, even if that was not the case, part of the advantage of EA is that it allows players to highlight such issues. JtD Posted August 24, 2019 Posted August 24, 2019 Yes, age old problems in the FM's exist. Also around flaps. Check the FM section of the forum. (Where this topic belongs anyhow, no matter how redundant it is.) I don't get the exclamation marks on a well known issue that is barely half a year old and on an early access plane. Just trying to reply in kind. 1

/top_lad/CaptainJack Posted August 24, 2019 Posted August 24, 2019 It's less of an issue if you climb out at a good angle instead of going 90 degrees nose up like most people who end up bouncing me. 2

That you can rocket to 10km up high in the Bf109 while the P-47 can't even pull the nose up? Imao just bad flying from germanwolf. 1 4
JonRedcorn Posted August 24, 2019 Posted August 24, 2019 People act like the team isn't in crunch mode right now trying to get the rest of bodenplatte out. Their finishing 3 planes and the AI b-25, the map, and all the other stuff that comes with release. Let's hope that after everythings settled they can revisit this issue. 1 4
ZachariasX Posted August 24, 2019 Posted August 24, 2019 (edited) I think a big part of the „helicopter issue“ is due to the sim handling stall and stall characteristics, when and how to enter stall (and depart lifting line theory). I couldn‘t believe the effect such a big and powerful prop can have until I sat is such an aircraft. I don‘t think that lift or drag this sim computes is too far off. I just think the sim engine is bloody nice to us when we bust the envelope rather than lift/drag being wrong per se. Flaps often do improve aileron control, so I‘m not surprised the sim engine shows that as well. It is just less straight forward to tell when it is not the case and why. I‘d be vary of any maneuver leading to power on stalling in such aircraft. For instance while the Spit in regular flight feels like a very light aircraft (it has this lightness that you also experience in very heavy but obscenely overpowered SUV‘s), but as soon as you cut power it goes downward and during flairing out you can‘t help noticing the momentum of her 3 tons. I wouldn‘t want to experience losing her in power on stall without a lot of air between me and the ground. Edited August 24, 2019 by ZachariasX 1 1
