nardo Posted August 22, 2019 Posted August 22, 2019 Last week I decided to test some of the aircrafts and compare them to the real tests and I found something weird... The ATA seems to be dropping earlier than it should on multiple versions of bf109. E4 and F2 are almost 100% correct compared to the real tests. The problem starts with F4. Its FTH is almost everywhere stated as 6km, so that should be the altitude where the ATA starts to drop, but the ATA in our version starts to drop at 5200m which means that the difference is around 800m, which is quite a lot. The difference is not that big for G2 and G6 (I expect the G4 to suffer from this as well) for which the FTH is usually stated as 6400-6600m whereas our G2/G6 starts losing pressure at 5950m. I also made a graph where I put the measured ATA values from the game and some real tests, you can also see it on the speed graph. All my in-game tests were done on Stalingrad Autumn map (15 degrees and 760 mmHg). I am still quite new to this game, so I might have missed something, if that would be the case I apologise for advance. JtD Posted August 23, 2019 Posted August 23, 2019 I take it you tested the full throttle altitudes at high speeds? The DB601E's static FTH is less than 5000m, but it is supposed to reach an fth of more than 6000m with 800kg/cm² ram pressure - which Bf109F's typically achieved. With the early flight models there was a widespread problem with aircraft exceeding historical performance at altitude significantly. Several Bf's were among them. I suppose lower fth might have been a cruch employed by the devs to combat this issue, before they improved the fm on newer aircraft. Of course I don't know if that's the case here.
