US63_SpadLivesMatter Posted September 6, 2019 Posted September 6, 2019 Sounds like a Learn to Play issue I guess. That's what it always is in this game too. Weird.

You seem to think it's great. Not a whole lot to argue about there. I think there is a misunderstanding. The in game mechanic of spotting, i.e. the highlighting of enemy planes by a surrounding grey circle and red dot Ui elements is something I absolutely do not want in IL 2. But, and that´s the big one, the actual visibility of planes, be they enemies or friends, against woods is actually superior in War Thunder. This is the one aspect in which I will cede superiority to War Thunder. Woods don´t seem to be as much an obstacle to visibility of planes above them in War Thunder as they are in IL2. Again, this does not happen in War Thunder, and IMO it should not happen here either. Edited September 8, 2019 by So_ein_Feuerball

I think the color pallet in il2 doesn't lend itself too well to contrasting images, the colors all kind of look the same and end up washed out. Drop that gamma down, use reshade or something. Warthunders color pallet is a lot more cartoony and bright. On 9/6/2019 at 5:15 PM, hrafnkolbrandr said: Sounds like a Learn to Play issue I guess. That's what it always is in this game too. Weird. Learn to play what? I had no problem shooting people down in war thunder, the games boring and isn't fun to play. I'll pass on spending hours flying shitty planes I don't like to unlock the ones I do want to fly only to die and then have to respawn in crappy planes again. No thanks.
Zooropa_Fly Posted September 8, 2019 Posted September 8, 2019 If landscapes were rendered a little more out of focus beyond a certain distance, then objects above them would be more visible...

That effect (false depth of field) would look really terrible. 2 hours ago, So_ein_Feuerball said: Woods don´t seem to be as much an obstacle to visibility of planes above them in War Thunder as they are in IL2. The colors and textures are all quite correct for the actual terrain. War Thunder features cartoon looking maps that in some cases are just fantasy terrain. IL-2 doesn't have visibility or graphics problems, although certainly everything is capable of improvement the sim does a really good job. The "problem" lies with players making comparisons to other games with less sophisticated or realistic graphics. Old sims or arcade style games. Here are some examples of aircraft that I personally found very easy to see. Screenshots are really a false impression though because they're compressed, resized and most importantly aren't moving. It shouldn't be necessary to illustrate these with screenshots as we all know what the game looks like but there are a number of curious statements in this thread that are false. That there are no reflections on other aircraft - There are That there isn't an atmospheric effect - There is That aircraft just vanish - They don't It sounds like we are playing different games. So here's what I see along with my graphic settings. These shots look vastly better on my actual screen, the aircraft here are VERY visible in actual gameplay About myself, I have corrected 20/20 vision wearing contact lenses. I’m not wearing eyeglasses or bifocals. That’s a factor as well. Edited September 8, 2019 by SharpeXB
