Question about using VR when buying from website.

I want to buy IL2 from the website, but I do not know how I would launch it in VR. Can someone please inform me how to me how to get VR working? I have heard about launching through steam VR, but I do not how I would launch a game bought from another platform than steam through steam.

You can run Il2  in VR without having Steam open.  You'll need Steam to download SteamVR, check the option to run when Steam VR application starts (under settings ->Devloper), and then start Il2 without Steam, with the VR option enabled.

Also if you have an Oculus headset, you can use OpenComposite to bypass SteamVR and gain some performance.
