Alonzo Posted August 16, 2019 Posted August 16, 2019 Hey all, I've added some AI flights to Combat Box. They seem to be working pretty well, but there is a *lot* of radio chatter from them. With 15 or so AI planes flying little missions, taking off, coming back to base, etc etc, all on a dynamic/random system, there can be a lot of "go around" radio and takeoff clearance and all that. Personally I find it a bit annoying. I've seen the various radio mods out there to disable the chatter or switch it to English, that's not really what I'm looking for. Does radio chatter have a limited or unlimited range? As a pilot, am I listening to chatter from my entire team, or only radio messages 'near' me? For some of my escort fighters, I think I might be happy to delete them rather than have them do a whole landing. I can use a proximity trigger on a single aircraft to ensure absolutely no planes are nearby (friendlies or enemies), and immediately delete that plane. But what I'd really love is to proximity trigger a lead/wingman pair, so when nothing is nearby I can cleanup the pair. But it looks like the proximity trigger won't work like that -- if I specify "no friendlies nearby" then the trigger doesn't fire (I think because the other plane in the pair blocks the trigger -- there is a friendly nearby in the wing). I could do things like fly planes into the middle of nowhere once their missions are complete and just delete them, but this feels a bit junky. Any other ideas for reducing radio chatter but keeping AI flying around? Is there some way to trigger based on "no non-wing planes nearby" ? Thanks!
RedKestrel Posted August 16, 2019 Posted August 16, 2019 In career mode, at least, you only hear radio chatter from your flight and flights you escort. Other planes going about their business don't speak on your channel. In MP, I've found that you can hear the "I'm wounded!" exclamations quite often from other player's 'pilots', but I'm not sure if there is a minimum range for it to show up.
