Rama Posted March 31, 2014 Posted March 31, 2014 It's a Titan T-51D (3/4 scale replica of a Mustang), that got a fuel pump failure. The pilot (a former military pilot) first tried to land on a field, then fuel pump worked again, he aborted landing, the fuel pump failed again... he had then no other choice than a crash landing on a 3-ways. No casualties. It was 3 or 4 years ago.
Sternjaeger Posted March 31, 2014 Author Posted March 31, 2014 Yeah, I figured it was a scale P-51, never heard of this accident though. And Sturmkraehe, if the pump starts working again, you still think about saving the aeroplane and gaining altitude, that's not a military aircraft, and you want to try and save the asset ;-)
DD_bongodriver Posted March 31, 2014 Posted March 31, 2014 (edited) Yeah I thought so from the debris. Didn't look like metal. Good that no one was hurt. I cannot understand why he aborted the landing. He should have known that it would happen again. Titan T-51 is actually an all metal aircraft. http://www.titanaircraft.com/ Edited March 31, 2014 by DD_bongodriver
