Hi all,

I would like to make a special keyboard mod for IL-2 using a spare keyboard and the HID macros software, and I was wondering if anyone has done something similar, and if you wouldn't mind sharing what your keyboard looks like? I am thinking something like this one, but for fighters instead of GA:

I was trying to find a good layout online that includes all the functions needed for all the planes (you dont want to build the thing and then realise you have left out some important function!) but I couldnt find anything. Has anyone done anything like this and what does your layout look like?

I suspect that the functions you want to put on it will depend on what other controllers you are using.

Incidentally, if you don't need a lot of controls,  and/or are short of space  there are cheap numeric keypads available which should work with the same software.

Hi Andy,

Yes I did initially think of using one of those little keypads, but decided against it in the end because I probably will want more than 20 keys, and you can make pretty cool areas for labels and that sort of thing on the bigger keyboard - like in the above picture where hes written "magnetos", "master", "fuel pump" etc. I also saw one where they had made a big eject button out of 4 or 5 keys on the keyboard, which I thought was pretty cool.

Anyway, I was just hoping someone in the community had already done something like this so I wouldnt have to re-invent the wheel..

Have you tested HID Macros with IL-2 for seen if send a "combo", for example, "LShift+F" game will be see correct, with most keymappers available game see "F, LShift+F".
