Hello,

Could you in the orders put:

a forward gear separate from reverse gear?
Currently if I place the forward gear on my brake shaft of my spreader as soon as I release it, I switch to reverse.

For turret rotations if they are on a button I can't move my turret accurately. And if I move my turret with my joystick, as soon as I let go of it, the turret returns to the center. Can you put a separate right rotation position of left rotation? and another separate elevation of descent?

Thank you. Thank you.

I do not completely understand it but I think Orders = controls. I can not imagine what a " Brake shaft of spreader" is.

There are no user controllable gears.

There is a gear limiter that lets you "abuse" it as a manual gear shifting. I have no clue why they implemented that. I use it sometimes to shift down on steep climbs.

If you control the tank by an axis (p.e. a throttle slider on a joystick) then you need to find the zero position, if the controller you use, does not auto return to the "zero" position. If you use two buttons of keys there is no problem.

If you use a zelfcentering  joystick or two keys it is no problem. If you use the sliding non-auto-return throttle axis of a Hotas you need to find a way to find the zero point otherwise you go from forward straight to reverse.

I use the joystick of a gamepad besides my joystick just to drive the tank because I need all buttons and axis on my joystick/hotas for planes and I do not want to change  my controls bindings everytime I want to drive a tank.

The turret control is a disaster, I hope they improve that or at least let us know how to deal with it if they do not change that.

You need to first take control of the gun (I think default T ) Then Nestle to the gun. Now you see the crosshair of your gunsight. I then use my mouse to move the turret. I so want to use my joystick for that but that does not work at all.

Be careful if you let go of the control before going to the next crew position., the turret indeed turns back so I leave it nestled/control when I jump to the next free combat position. That seems to work.

I use my mouse to aim. The turret follows the aim very precise but very unrealistic, and only if you do it slow enough. If you aim faster as the turret turns you end up with a black screen (German tanks). In that case stop aiming and wait until the turret catches up. In some other tanks the turret starts doing strange things if you aim to fast. Also, the turret rotation response to the controls is zoom dependent. Minimum zoom gives a much bigger response as max zoomed (That is for a mouse) And that I do like ?

It would be nice to be able to use a joystick axis  to slew  the turret,   and  also to use a keystroke to move it minutely,  to allow for precise aiming control.  What we have now with the mouse control is  not precise at all,  without screwing with  your mouse settings etc, especially at very long ranges.

Other tanks sims, I used my rudder pedals for turret traverse.  Then mapped gun up/down to a hat key.  On the same hat    left/right was very slow gun movement.   In this way,  you could aim very precisely after you made the course moves needed,   much like the gunners did in the tanks with the handwheels

They are very aware of the short comings...  I keep hoping for one of those random surprise updates when they announce that they are rebuilding the tank/turret controls and multi-crew turret control functionality.  Seems like the same sort of tech would even allow greater multi-crew items like dropping bombs and being a true co-pilot.

I really think they just don't want to promise something that they cannot guarantee to deliver.  For years they kept saying that the 10km view distance was too hard to expand (even somewhat recently)... then all of a sudden they announced that it'll be expanded very shortly.

We must not forget TC is still early access. We have no idea, what the Devs are planning to implement. This is the only thing, I am a bit disappointed about, that we are not told, what they are planning. On the other side, this is completely new terrain for them. Nevertheless I think it makes sense to tell the Devs, what we would like to have in the game as long as it is written in a nice way as a suggestion.

BTW, we definitely need the Achtacht with gun shield for TC☝️

I feel like the reliance of third party solutions is not a winning strategy for getting people into the game.   I will pray for salvation and wait.

No it's not... but it is a workaround until the developers change things... if ever. ?

glory to you. You made me discover joytokey. I started there  tank crew. Coming from warthunder I did not expect it to be impossible on "il2 tank crew" to be able to configure my turret with my joystick. I played with the mouse, I was on the verge of depression, see worse. Joytokey brought me deliverance. Glory to you Thad.

I could not resist because I tried this with the software from my joystick and that did not work great. I have 2 keyboards, a trackball-mouse, a joystick, trottle unit and gamepad in use (all together) I now tried joytokey and this software is brilliant.

I even was able to set 2 joystick axis parallel without having to reverse the directions of one of them (the IL-2 software does allow you to define up to 3 axis parallel, but does not support it functional)

For those who think that is crazy,  this way I can use one stick for coarse control and the other for venier control. (All  devices are fixed mounted to a "cockpit" so I can easy use them together.)
