AI issue or PWCG mission planning

Started a VVS career in the P-39 (45th GIAP) based at the coastal airfield Agoy. This was the third sortie and the winds were essentially calm. I didn't take a screenshot of the route of flight, previous takeoffs had been out over the water. This time the plan called for a takeoff to the east up the valley.

 

 

It wasn't pretty...but it wasn't fatal either.

 

 

 

I simply turned around and landed to the west. Question is there a way to force a takeoff toward the water (away from high terrain)? Going forward I'll just scrub the mission. Now to go download 6.1.1
