CAMALEON Posted July 30, 2019 Posted July 30, 2019 I will never more purchase anything from this site. It is terrible what i said, i want that my money go to this site, but with this sloooow download service, i will go to Steam to purchase my future games. This is your reward to all these years of bad download speed. I'm sorry CAMALEON 2
Thad Posted July 30, 2019 Posted July 30, 2019 (edited) Salutations, It is not always their site or connection that is the problem. I had the same experience recently. I was getting 'really' slow download speeds. I finally unplugged my router... waited ten to fifteen seconds and plugged the power back in. I was back up to my normal 4 MB/s download speeds. It works for me. Obviously, something was re-set when I unplugged my router. Give it a try. Good luck. Edited July 30, 2019 by Thad
Eisenfaustus Posted July 30, 2019 Posted July 30, 2019 I always have way better download speed with steam than with IL2 launcher - no matter what I do or don't do with my router or how fast my internet generally is at the given point. The download speed with steam is alsways acceptable to great - with IL-2 Launcher it ranges from good to attrocious. There were moments when I also thought I should have gone with steam. And if there was a way to connect my IL-2 profile to steam without ever buying through steam I'd do that instantly. But as long as I have to choose between a better DL-rate and supporting the Devs better to do my part that this series has a future, I'll choose the the latter. Nevertheless - the bad DL rates are a pitty.
CAMALEON Posted July 30, 2019 Author Posted July 30, 2019 (edited) And now the download server is down. Seconds before to finish, "failed to update". And when retry, nothing. Speed 0. I have restarted the computer, but it isn't the problem. Speed 0 and the day is lost. I've always had these problems. From day one. And when you change the computer and you have to download the full game, it is a HELL. Don't try to defend them. They are many years with the same problem and they haven't solved it (because they wan't do it) Regards CAMALEON Edited July 30, 2019 by CAMALEON and 4 hours later 2

Hello HellCat_ I'm downloading (installing now) the update again. I have had that delete (rename to _OLD) the folder "updates" and the download has started to download and install again. Try it Regards CAMALEON
Bilbo_Baggins Posted July 30, 2019 Posted July 30, 2019 Appalling download speeds and fails to download. More often than not a right pain to update or redownload this game. Been like this for years now.

Guess you missed this part of my post " I downloaded and updated 2 games on steam since then without issue"
E4GLEyE Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 does the launcher use "torrent" p2p downloads? DCS does that but if its slow (as it is usually) you can just press cancel on the update and it will go to direct download which is way faster. I have the base game on steam, got everything else from the site, so I am lucky
RedKestrel Posted July 31, 2019 Posted July 31, 2019 This was the first time I got a failed to download update. In fact the launcher didn't even try to download the update, just said 'failed to update'. Most of the time i get slow-to-ok download speeds but my internet is pretty slow most days so that is my own problem. What I found I had to do with this update was the following: -copy the .dll file as per Sneaksie's instructions in the game update thread. (still failed to update) -delete the updates folder -restart the computer After the restart, I opened the launcher and it began downloading at speeds of about 500 kb/s to 1.5 Mb/s. This is fast for me on my connection. But I did this several days after the update at night time and let it run for the time it needed. So maybe you are having the same issue I am, the .dll replacement alone fixed most people's problems but mine required both fixes to work properly. Try this if you can before giving up.
