Not sure how good it would look either. It is the OculusMirror.exe in your Oculus/Support/Diagnostics folder. I personally have not tried it. Well, I have just tried it, it display only one eye but while the mirror windows is active (on the top) on the monitor, VR lost focus and mouse nor controller like hotas does not work anymore. If the focus is switched to the stadard dual eye mirror, everything works.again.. So unfortunarelly OculusMirror.exe cannot be used to show the other person on monitor what you do in VR ?

Well, found the solution: I have two LCD's so I extend my desktop (WIN + P) and place the mirror window on the secondary LCD. The double eye default mirror is by default placed on the primary LCD. So the one eye mirror is not obscured by default double eye mirror ? Edited August 6, 2019 by Tapi

LLv24_Zami Posted September 1, 2019 Posted September 1, 2019 (edited) I don`t wan`t to start another thread of Rift S so I`ll just post here. I finally got my headset couple of days ago finally. My rig is not top notch for the VR as you can see in my signature. 6700k @4,5GHz and 1080 slightly overclocked. Works like a dream in the 2D but I don`t expect wonders in VR. I had CV1 couple years ago and compared to that, picture is much better. SDE is almost gone and resolution is good enough to read read the dials on the planes without trouble. It`s not perfect but much better than CV1 in that regard. As I said, I had a Rift couple of years ago but I don`t remember much about the settings and stuff. I haven`t had much time to test yet but when I do, there`s that ghosting when the fps is at 40. This is about the ASW, right? Anything specific you guys with a lot of VR experience would recommend to me? Other than buying a better hardware ? Edit: The installation and tracking system are great. It`s awesome that all you have to do is to plug two cables and you`re good to go. And those cameras are handy to look around. Headset is also quite comfortable. Edited September 1, 2019 by LLv24_Zami

Yes the ghosting is due to the ASW kicking in. You might try running without ASW. When in the game press CTRL+Numpad 1. This will disable ASW. Alternatively you can grab the Oculus Tray Tool - third party program - and set a profile for IL-2 to disable ASW with a profile for the game. You can grab it here: https://forums.oculusvr.com/community/discussion/47247/oculus-traytool-supersampling-profiles-hmd-disconnect-fixes-hopefully/p1 I myself prefer running with ASW disabled due to that reason. It seems to give a better experience to me. 1
LLv24_Zami Posted September 3, 2019 Posted September 3, 2019 Thanks for the tips guys! There is something odd about the ASW ctrl+numpad1 function. I've pressed it in game and didn't notice anu difference. It just don't seem to work. Fps is ranging between 80 and 40. Is there a notification or similar when changing the mode?

No there is no notification. Try doing it after you have entered the cockpit and ready to go. Be sure it is numpad 1, not keypad 1.

Anything specific you guys with a lot of VR experience would recommend to me? Other than buying a better hardware ? Get the computer to tell you why it's running at 40 FPS, rather than guessing. If you use Oculus Tray Tool, enable the Performance HUD set to "application latency". This will show an in-game overlay that tells you how many milliseconds each frame requires on both CPU and GPU. For the Rift S, you need to be under 12.5ms to maintain 80 FPS, otherwise it will drop to 40 FPS ASW and you'll see the ghosting. If the CPU is over 12.5ms, drop your preset down (say High to Balanced) or overclock your CPU some more. If the GPU is over 12.5ms, reduce supersampling, reduce AA, reduce shadows. I definitely recommend Open Composite as a performance booster if you're not already using it. That bypasses SteamVR for Oculus games and saves a bit of CPU time. 1 1

LLv24_Zami Posted September 5, 2019 Posted September 5, 2019 I used Oculus Tray Tool to measure the loads on CPU and GPU as Alonzo suggested. It showed that GPU is in most stress in my case and I have to adjust some graphics settings. No surprise there, I probably should upgrade GPU anyway at some point. What does the PD setting 1.0 do in the OTT? Default is 0. And I use the Open Composite as many suggested here, works fine.

SS set to 1.0 in OTT sets it to 1.0, if you want to control it by any other method ( like Steam VR ) leave it at 0. With Open Composite, I would think either setting would be fine in OTT if you are wanting it to run at default resolution.

Maybe try reducing shadows to Medium or something like that. You will also find it depends a lot on the map, the Kuban map seems to be heaviest for graphics cards. PD is Pixel Density and it's similar to the SteamVR Super Sampling setting. It makes the system render more pixels before downsampling for the headset. PD 1.1 means the system renders 1.1 pixels (in each direction) for the number of real pixels in your headset, so this is 1.1 * 1.1 = 1.21 times as many pixels, or a SteamVR setting of 121%. With your 1080, you might try a pixel density of 1.1 and an in-game AA of zero (AA off). Fenris has ditched in-game AA in favor of headset supersample, and he knows what he's talking about (I haven't tried this myself yet, I still use a combination of in-game AA and pixel density).
Tapi Posted September 8, 2019 Author Posted September 8, 2019 Well, I tried in-game AA off and PD set to 1.5 but the rendered scene was not as good as with AA 4x and PD 1.1. Moreover the GPU render timing was higher (cca 13-14) so there was cosiderable FPS drop.
jamiegrover1973 Posted October 22, 2020 Posted October 22, 2020 Hi guys, I don't know if this is the right area for posting this thread but whenever I launch IL-2 Battle of Stalingrad with OTT and OpenComposite enabled I cannot get Pat Wilsons Campaign Generator Missions to come up under custom missions tab in game although they work under Steam VR. Very strange indeed! Can somebody please help me with this problem. Thanks in advance.
