Own face in campaign? And photos?

I remember a while back there was talk of adding the ability to put our own face for our pilot in the campaign game (say by adding a png pic, etc). I also remember talk of being able to add a cockpit photo (say of the girlfriend or loved ones)...

 

I`ve noticed in my Campaign so far there`s none of that. Have these ideas been abandoned?

That was possible in RoF, but as far as I can tell from looking at the files it looks like they use a lot of little face fragments and randomly/dynamically combine several of those elements to generate the pilot faces in IL-2 GB.  Makes for a much more varied set of pilot faces in the game, but probably makes it impossible to put your own face into the cockpit like you could in RoF  (and it was fun but wasn't that great in RoF - IIRC when you put your face on a German pilot then all the German pilots looked like you).

 

Haven't tried adding a photo to the cockpit - that would involve a different set of files than I have looked at so far, and may well be possible even though the pilot face thing doesn't seem to be.

No, there never was such talk. You are misremembering things

I recall Jason saying conversationally he would like to one day, but that was all.  It wasn’t part of the timeline.

Yes, i remember a Dev Rep talking about it.

 

Maybe they`ll reconsider.

Sorry, didn’t mean to come across aggressive-  but why on earth people care about such codswallop is beyond me. It’s a game for pity’s sake- why would you want to bring your family or personal photo into it? Must be a geriatric thing I guess.

Don`t waste your time on that attention seeker. He is clearly someone who can only randomly attack people from behind a monitor like a coward.

 

Anyway, hopefully, the Devs may consider allowing the User to put his face into the game as well as possibly a photo in the cockpit as previous sims have done.

I like the idea of uploading your own picture for the Career Mode purely because the avatar generating system it has now is horrific and most of the pilot portraits it generates look very odd and mismatched.

A custom pic would be nice, but I can live with the current generator. I wont put my own face in though far too horrid.

This was possible in original IL2. I have always preferred singel player gaming, so when I found out, I quickly checked it out. I imported pictures of family and friends, and a few celebrities, Captain Kirk, Han Solo, The King of Norway and so on :P . 

 

YES it can bring you a bitt out of the experience, if all you are after is as real an experience as possible, and I guess this is the crowd for that, more then most other games :) . But for me I studently cared a lot about my AI buddies, and I gave it the extra effort to protect my wing man when I it was my best friend or Captain Kirk that was in peril :P

 

I totally get it if this is a thing, many would not like or need, but back in the IL2 days, I really enjoyed the experience :)
