Then after the new install put the saved folder back, hit rewrite to everything and then you won't have to do all those key bindings again! So which folder is that, where are they hiding? I looked in bin, and data, can't find them
Matt Posted July 27, 2019 Posted July 27, 2019 (edited) Here's the launcher.exe. Add it to trusted files in your anti virus software and it shouldn't delete it again. launcher.zip Otherwise, search for the startup.cfg in your data folder and back that up and then do a reinstall. That won't do you any good, because it will again delete the launcher.exe though and you'll be were you are now. Edited July 27, 2019 by Matt
Dagwoodyt Posted July 27, 2019 Posted July 27, 2019 If everyone is merely guessing why Kaspersky is now upset with the launcher that is not a comforting situation. I have not changed Kaspersky settings and have never before had an update failure in nearly two years of BoX updates. If you only use your pc for BoX maybe you don’t care what is causing these errors. Some of us don’t have that luxury.

simfan2015 Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 Kapersky, Avast, MC afee a. o. Those are the problems, not il-2 launcher. Got rid of those because imho non are worth the problems they cause. MS anti virus should be enough for normal pc use. Avast even prevented me from successfull updating Windows. But... YMMV. 2
Dagwoodyt Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 Detected: not-a-virus:PDM:AdWare.NSIS.ConvertAd.bcb A file or program identifies itself to Kaspersky as “adware” when starting the launcher. This is new, never happened in the past. No one has given any information regarding origin or significance of this “adware”. I think the only correct decision when presented with the available choices for handling the “adware” is to choose “delete”. Certainly if I were using someone else’s pc at the time I think that would be the only ethical choice as to how to proceed. Everyone is entitled to an opinion as to whether or not AV programs are worthwhile. Absent any authoritative explanation as to why this “adware” has inserted itself into the launcher I do not want it. Better to fix the launcher so that no flags are thrown. The only info I need to read is that the issue has been addressed to stop the launcher from throwing flags.
simfan2015 Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 Dagwoodyt, Indeed that should not happen with a paid-for product, but this is probably some kind of false-positive or genuine IL-2 advertising (we may or may not like) ? If you let e.g. the Totalvirus online website (using all kinds of A-Virus programs) check all the sofwares we currenly use we would be amazed. A lot of false positives but also ... genuine 'doubtfull' kinds of adwares, trojans and viruses . I am personally not alarmed by IL-2 launcher ... unless the MS virusscanner would find something wrong with the IL-2 launcer.
SYN_Mike77 Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 People are still using Kaspersky? Well ok then. 1
J2_Bidu Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 The police has stopped me on the highway and says someone reported a car with my plate as having been stolen. I payed huge money for my car, this is unacceptable. I am suing VW.
Stu-Dh Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 I also had problems updating the past 4 days! But I saw Spyboy's and Sneaksie's comment on deleting the "updates" folder, and it worked! I can fly again! No probs with graphic that I can see. Thank u both very much!
Dagwoodyt Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 (edited) Detected: not-a-virus:PDM:AdWare.NSIS.ConvertAd.bcb So what happens when the next update comes out? Will the same scenario of accept the declared “adware” or experience “failed update” repeat? Edited July 28, 2019 by Dagwoodyt
II/JG17_HerrMurf Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 Well, I got the fail to update. Followed the rec and am playing now with my old settings.
[DBS]TH0R Posted July 28, 2019 Posted July 28, 2019 (edited) Top tip: backup your 1C Game Studios\IL-2 Sturmovik Great Battles\bin\game - game folder before running the game. This way you can easily restore whatever Kaspersky deleted / quarantined. First I tried adding the launcher.exe and il2.exe to the trusted apps, but the only thing that finally worked was adding the whole IL-2 Sturmovik Great Battles folder as an exclusion: This update was a mess. Hope this gets fixed soon. Edited July 28, 2019 by [DBS]TH0R
Dagwoodyt Posted August 2, 2019 Posted August 2, 2019 Detected: not-a-virus:PDM:AdWare.NSIS.ConvertAd.bcb Not sure how using "add to exclusions" represents a "success".
