M-82F VS M-82FN(Lavochkin La-5/La-5FN engine)

Hello!

I'm just curios, you can see in the game the LA-5 with M-82 engine can use the boost for only 5 min, with M-82F u can use the boost for unlimited time.
How?

The upgraded La-5FN engine the M-82FN can boost only for 10 min.
So the upgraded engine is worse than the M-82F?

Can please, somebody explain this to me?

La5 has the m82. The m82f was an improved m82 cleared for running full power constantly, better cooling and other improvements.  The m82fn Was a further improvement of the M82f with direct fuel injection, power output increased to 1,850 hp compared to 1,700 hp of the earlier variants.  So full boost of the f isn’t as powerful as the fn at max, but it seems to cruise (unlimited boost faster).  I actually prefer the f because of that and it’s seemingly better handling.

F has better handling than the FN? That's not my impression ... I feel the FN to be much better in that as well as in the speed and aceleration department. But maybe that's just me ... Anyways, my question is: Do we se this better cooling of the F vrsion in game or does it heat up as fast as the regular version?

^^ This

Boosted M82F <> Boosted M82FN. The engines have different power outputs (1140 mmHg vs 1180 mm Hg)

Also the boosted M82F is at 2400 RPM  while M82FN is boosted at 2500 RPM

Im not sure, I haven't had many issues. Do you have the inlet cowls mapped correctly? I had lots of issues till I mapped them and then never had issues again.

Yes ... I believe it has to do with the mixture. Whenever I decrease the mixture in order to remove that horrible smoke trail from behind me I feel the plane begins to heat up faster (both versions) ... Maybe it is related to that?

Yes, increasing mixture definitely helps reduce temps

Spent last 2 days comparing gpu's so these 10-15% performance difference makes me sick .....blah....

Yep there is better cooling in the F variant, with the normal La-5 in Stalingrad Summer, with boost and 100% oil, 5% external shutters the plane is just at the edge of overheating (114ºC oil and 235ºC cylinders). With the F modification and the same conditions the plane runs cooler (101ºC oil and 220ºC cylinders). If you want to have the same temperatures as the F in the normal La-5 you have to open the shutters to 40%, and the oil will still be a bit warmer at 105ºC.

What we really need is the most produced variant of the F with the FN canopy

Thanks for that SE ... I wasn't sure that was modeled.
